If I was to say the line, “I am not a Stick, I am Stick Man,” would you know what I am talking about? If you don’t then you definitely need to find out all about it. A few Christmas’ ago, the BBC adapted the world famous book, Stick Man, by Julia Donaldson on TV. It was the cutest show I watched all of the festive season. I think I watched it about three or four times on catch up after it was aired. I simply loved the magic of watching it come alive.
So, when on a trip to London over the weekend, I couldn’t help but be incredibly grateful when I was given the opportunity to watch it on stage along with my family and friends. With two adults and two children taking to the Leicester Square Theatre, we were quick to settle in to the 55 minute show.
Just a few minutes away from Leicester Square tube station, the theatre is cosy and comfortable. There is enough room for lots of families, which on the day there were many of. With such a short run time for the average show, it is a great first step into the West End world. The littlest one in our group was able to hold her attention throughout, laughing and cheering when everyone else did. As for older children, they were also really impressed and entertained. I count myself as one of these aha!
With three shows every day, the production is beautifully done, with gorgeous set pieces and script. The whole set up allows for your childhood mind to return and for childlike wonder to sparkle when it comes to the younger ones. As actors take to the stage to perform, you find yourself watching them take on many different roles, which I worried would confuse the little ones, however, they were gripped throughout and took it in their stride. Something I feel was helped by the beautiful music, which is the same as the feature length TV adaptation.
I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about watching the show, as I was such a fan of the TV film. Yet, I was so happy with what I watched that I couldn't help but be in awe of it. I wanted to share the glory of the different forms the actors took. The festive beauty of the stage settings and characters, who flowed through each season easily. The way everyone laughed at the joyful innocent moments being displayed on stage. It was truly magical. Especially before Christmas!
Overall, I would definitely recommend the show for everyone to enjoy at Christmas or not. It is a beautiful, light hearted piece, which whilst not having all the glitz and glamour of a big production, is just as powerful as one. I hope that those who wish to see it do, because you will remember it forever. Plus, when you watch the TV adaptation afterwards, it feels even more special.

Going to see a show in London is one of my favourite things in the world. Especially if it is able to immerse you into it. Something The Choir of Man does incredibly well.
Set inside the walls of a pub, the show follows a group of men, all struggling with different mental health issues, as they explain their situations through well-known songs.
From Adele to Queen, the show is packed with hit after hit that not only have you singing along, but also dancing in your seat. Even when they are used to explain some tough subject matters.
It is a clever way of highlighting how important it is to get men to speak up about their feelings. The words of the songs fit to the moods and the close intimate setting of the theatre make your heart reach out to them. Many times in fact whilst watching.
Having been nominated for an Olivier Award, The Choir of Man is a superb story that needs to be taken well into the centre of London. It needs to be turned up and shared further. A story like this is one to enjoy and learn from. An element that not all West End shows can do.
Suitable for the whole family, it is a feature that I am sure will come back time and time again to delight more audiences. As well as to get them talking. Definitely go and see it if you get the chance to. You will not be disappointed!

Having seen Dirty Dancing before, the West End has a touch of magic in the air when it comes to bringing it alive. One of my all time favourite films, has reignited its spark at the Dominion Theatre again and you will not be disappointed by it.
With old cast members reuniting to tell the famous Kellerman’s love story, the stage show was alive and electric. Tension, dances and more, made the air sizzle in a way that not many West End shows can.
From the iconic songs to the beautiful love story, Johnny and Baby, are a force to be reckoned with when it comes to being played out on stage. Each actor knows just what to do to bring back the characterisation that the original film stars did.
Dirty Dancing is a classic feature and the stage show is going down the same route. Anybody who sees it is lifted up. Not just at the end, but throughout. Although, there is nothing quite like watching that final moment take shape.
Grab whoever you can lovelies and take a trip back to the 60s! You will not be disappointed!

Charles Dickens may have had a tipple in his hand when he made A Christmas Carol, but I don’t think he would have got as drunk as the members of this modern day retelling. Returning for another year, the Shit-Faced Showtime crew are providing audiences with a chance to see to A Pissedmas Carol, all over again.
Setting up home in Leicester Square, the idea of the play is to tell the famous story. Yet, the big twist being that one of the cast members is in fact pissed. And they get to tell the others how the story is going to go.
With the added addition of modern songs, sung in sometimes off key by the cast, the play lasts for around an hour and 40 minutes. During which you are kept completely entertained.
Especially when the drunken members stumbles their ideas out onto the cast or in fact just wonders off, having to be dragged back onto the stage by others in the production.
Unlike anything seen before, this is a production that the whole family may not be able to see, but those that do will love. Swearing, swigging and singing. The perfect mixture for a Christmas delight. There is even shouting, which every family experiences at Christmas too!
You can capture A Pissedmas Carol at the Leicester Square theatre until the 7th January 2023, so book tickets now lovely if it seems like something you would enjoy. You won’t be disappointed!
