Hotel Transylvania 3: Monsters Overboard DVD Review

08:30:00

Good Morning Lovelies,

After two successful adventures, Hotel Transylvania returns for a third outing. However, the spooky fun has now dipped into safer than scary on this latest adventure. Yet, it doesn’t make it any less thrilling.

Created by Dexter’s Laboratory creator Genndy Tartakovsky, Drac (Adam Sandler) is back and he is taking a holiday after his daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez) decides that he needs to go on a break. What is supposed to be some R&R for the famous vampire, becomes a chance to meet a new girlfriend. But nothing is simple in this ghoulish world and soon they find themselves at sea and in trouble.

Much like the first two, this is a film for the kids, however, with adult jokes, there are many smile-worthy moments for adults as well. For a third outing, the team are still trying to be clever and the familiarity of the voices makes it a sort of creature comfort of a film.

There is something that this third feature though that isn’t as good as the others and that is the way in which the characters don’t seem to go the distance. It is predictable and even young audiences will be able to guess what is going to happen. The final moments within it make the whole thing cross the line from silly to over the top.

Yet, in a complex world, the film does bring a little entertainment for a short amount of time. It does feel like this should be the last outing for the Addams Family like animation to come to a close though.

There so, I am giving it…

3 Stars
