And how are we all today? I am feeling a little bit blue today. I have this panic deep inside and I don’t know why, but hopefully, it will pass soon. If not, I will be finding the perfect film to cuddle up with tonight. Secretly I think it could be Love Island blues but we will have to see aha!
To bring some fun to this Tuesday however, I have a load of new clips to share with you all from the world of TV and film. Take a look and enjoy…
All good things come to an end and after two months, Love Island will sadly finish tonight. From a kiss that ruined a bunch of hearts to bird watching, there hasn’t been a moment that hasn’t captured our hearts.
And so as we come to the end I thought it would be a good idea to look back at some of this years best moments, which are definitely not muggy...
Do Bits Society: This years hottest new group, be prepared to hear this be used all the time. In fact, best to change your WhatsApp group now.
Jack and Dani: Never have a couple seemed so real on the show and brought to life a relationship we actually all want. Cheeky pens salesman Jack and barmaid Dani have captivated us and if they don’t take home the prize after Danny Dyer’s call in, I will be fuming.
The Games: No not the relationship games, but the trials the teams are put through. Twitter messages, disgusting food and drink challenges and a horse race with a difference where just some of this year's best bits.
Babies, Babies Everywhere: Apart from the parent’s episode, seeing the Islanders become parents for the first time is always one of the best episodes. This year took it to a whole new level with racing and broken limbs.
Shopping Challenge: A highlight for Dani and Jack was the shopping challenge. One of my favourite moments in every series. Jack trying to explain a chicken breast and then eating all the Doritos was a perfect feature.
Dr. Alex’s Sunburn: As a doctor, Alex should have known better than to let his skin get as red as it did, but weirdly it became an episode feature. How red could he get? Very!
The Other Villa: Brought in to stir up some epic issues - something it definitely did - the second villa tested and broke many relationships. But it also brought with it some excellent characters and a whole lot of scandal that we loved being a part of.
Niall and His Film References: Sadly Niall left before we could get to really know him. But his endless film references were a huge hit for me and I wish I could have heard more!
With 76% of us hoping that Dani and Jack win tonight according to my Twitter poll - including myself - it is safe to say that we all have a pretty good hold on who we want to win and that 2018’s show has been a mixed one. But one that I have adored every second of. The summer won’t be the same without it now and I don’t know what I am going to do with myself at 9pm each night. Can we have a winter version ITV 2?!?
Let me know in the comments below or on social what your favourite moments were and who you would like to see win lovelies!
The weekend seemed to fly past – quite literally in the UK with the storms we have been having – and we are now starting a new week. Monday’s are always hard, but today I am working to change that by gathering all the best clips and teasers for you to enjoy.
Starting with the newest footage from The Darkest Minds…
Since Our Girl first aired on TV I have been invested. From Molly and Captain James’ will they won’t they relationship to the introduction of Georgie, played by Michelle Keegan, I have had many emotions.
When the third season ended, there was an almighty sadness to it. Yet, returning to her role in the latest season, Keegan’s Georgie facing the horrors of the war in Nepal, Belize, Bangladesh and Nigeria as she takes on the medical problems she faces every day. Mixed in with grief, love and the yearning for normalcy.
The show is a lot more dramatic this series, with very few light-hearted or comedic elements. Keegan and the rest of the cast have been given a story to show the real horrors of war and they have done a fantastic job of showing it.
However, there was something about this series that made it lack. As they crammed a whole host of action in, ideas and decisions got lost. Keegan’s Georgie barely had time to breathe in some scenes and as the loses came in it was hard to follow who was who.
Whilst it was a terrific addition to the Our Girl series, The Nepal, Nigeria, Bangladesh and Belize tours weren’t the strongest set the show has ever seen. And this is all down to the final episode of the Nepal tour series. Killing off a major character straight after a moment that seemed highly unlikely making the show cheesier rather than gripping.
When taking on such a hard subject it needs to be done with no mistakes and sadly this season doesn’t do this. There so, because of all of this I have given this series...
Back in 2013, Guillermo Del Toro shocked us all with his robot/monster mash-up Pacific Rim. Not one person was really expecting it to work, but there was something about it - probably the Del Toro charm - that made it work.
However, this charm is sadly lost in the 2017 sequel, Pacific Rim Uprising, starring John Boyega and Scott Eastwood. Trying to bring new inventions to life in the world after the first film, Boyega plays Idris Elba’s characters son, Jake. A man who doesn’t want anything to do with his dad’s plans. Yet, a chance I encounter with some interesting characters leaves him in jail. And the only way to get out is to return to what his dad worked so hard to create.
It is a predictable plot that becomes hard to take in at times, as the characters and the film become something that Pacific Rim would have probably destroyed. Don’t get me wrong there are many moments that justify it being made, but they come down to small details.
Technology is one of them. It is the biggest feature of the film, with drones taking on the lead role. In fact, they appear or are mentioned more than Boyega at times. If you come for action, these are the scenes you will find it. Not the moments that will have you thinking that the film has only been made to show you what could happen if we have another world war.
And it does have to be said that Boyega is brilliant in the film. Sadly, Eastwood gets left behind in his shadow, but as an audience who will love Boyega from his Star Wars trips, you just can’t help it. From his opening dance to the end, he proves he can wear a suit and fight for what’s right in the Pacific Rim world with ease.
It is sad to see that Del Toro’s world has been changed so much that it now doesn’t work. With the first film, there was a freshness, which this one just can’t do. However much they try to use Boyega’s charms to revive it.
July brought with it madness, sadness, birthdays and the weirdest warm weather we have probably ever had in the UK! Amongst all those things, there were several items that made my July super special and I wanted to share them with you all on this last weekend in July 2018.
Just a word of warning, they are a pretty random bunch of items aha! Here is what made my July...
My Grandad: This wasn’t a favourite as such lovelies, but July was when I said goodbye to my grandad for the last time. It was a horrid day that I would never wish on anyone, but it did make me see something that made it a special event. For a long time, we haven’t really sat down or gathered with my uncle’s family. Every single one of us has been off doing something else that has led to missed opportunities or family issues.
However, during his wake for the last hour, we all sat together and joked around in a way we haven’t ever done before. If my grandad and nanny had been there, which in a way I think they were, they would have truly loved seeing us like that after so many years. It truly showed me that even in the darkest of moments, as Hugh Grant said, “Love is all around.”
Lille, My Birthday and The World Cup: For my birthday this year, I left it really last minute to book a place. With everything that happened at home, I wasn’t even sure I was going to go away. However, we made it to Lille via the dreamy Eurostar and had a lovely weekend away where I turned 23. On the Sunday we were away, madness descended into the normally quiet town as World Cup fever turned into huge celebrations that I will never forget, as France took the trophy home. Having a firework go off in my ear though I may try and not remember aha!
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again: I know I seem like I am going on a lot about this film, but it has made this list for a very special reason. It has taken 23 years for my parents to BOTH take me to the cinema to see a film. And my dad took it so seriously he got dressed up, made my mum do a photo shoot outside the cinema and enjoyed a huge bag of popcorn. Cuteness overload!
Still Me by Jojo Moyes: Recently I have been trying to get back into reading and after purchasing this book earlier in the year I finally settled in to enjoy it. I loved reconnecting with Lou and it has set off my reading big again. I’m currently reading War Storm and would love to know if you have all read the series too.
Amazon’s Christmas in July Event: Christmas for me is a time in which could be celebrated all year round. I love the lights, music and whole festive atmosphere. So, to have a beautiful Christmas sneak peek before the big month and be spoilt rotten by the Amazon team was very much needed after a very hard June.
Love Island: Every night I am still glued to my sofa watching the Islanders fall in love and now it is reaching the end I don’t know what I am going to do. Bring it back ASAP or give us a winter version, please!
What made you July favourites list lovelies?!? Let me know in the comments below!
Nearly a week after its release, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is riding high at the top of my summer must-watch list. From the gorgeous Greek scenery to the Abba music that we all know and love, the film is a joy to watch from start to finish. Even if it isn’t entirely perfect.
Sometimes though films aren’t meant to be. They are meant to be the thing that you need at certain moments in life. And with everything happening in our world right now, it is easy to get caught up in the beauty of the easy summer breeze it brings.
Instead of a normal review, I have decided to do a short list on why the film works and key scenes to look out for. All of which I am sure will brighten your Friday with their Abba-solutely fabulous music...
Lily James: With so many returning faces, the new cast had a lot to live up to. Especially James who plays a younger Meryl Streep. However, she breezes into the film with a sense that she has always been there and belongs there too. From When I Kissed The Teacher to her last moments on screen, she definitely leaves an impact.
Dancing Queen Returns: After the pure joy of the first film’s Dancing Queen scene, the sequel's version definitely makes you smile. Colin Firth and Stellan SkarsgÃ¥rd ride in on a boat with a party that holiday companies are now going to have to fight to recreate. Abba music a must here!
Cher: Although she doesn’t turn up until quite close to the end, Cher knows how to make a room and more important a whole film notice her. She is, of course, the legend that is Cher and whilst she doesn’t add a lot to the plot, she does make the film a whole lot better for being in it.
The Music: Abba is one of those bands that everyone dances to. Whether you hate pop or love it, nothing can stop you from enjoying it. Having used up most of the best in the last film, there are still many recognisable features in this that your toe will be tapping along to.
The Return of the Cast: Its hard to believe that it has been 10 years since this cast were first together and it doesn’t feel like it either. Everyone flows back into character with ease and give viewers that feeling of family. It is like we haven’t been away from them! Plus, Julie Walter’s slays everything she is (my personal hero!).
Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again is a winner in so many ways and with the way it brings us all together it is automatically a true gem. We may be enjoying the sunshine outside, but this is the cinematic equivalent and there so I am giving it…
Are you ready for some football fun lovelies? After all the madness surrounding the World Cup and the way fans reacted to our amazing performance, we may have just been getting used to our tellies being back to normal, but it is all about to get football mad again with the Premier League.
And whether you will be supporting your local team at home through the small screen or travelling all over the country to see them, I have an amazing opportunity for you all! To mark the occasion, Premier Inn is offering one lucky winner the chance to get their hands on an Away Day Season Ticket - accommodation for every away league game of the football season that they attend.
Hosting thousands of fans each year, Premier Inn, have discovered that we are willing to go miles for the big game. Even if it means travelling all over the country and missing out on sleep to see them. And now with this special ticket, one lucky fan will earn free accommodation before or after their team plays a league game away from home.
This one of a kind ticket, which could be worth more than £1,000, has been created to ensure the fan has a great place to start every away game day. Plus, with more than 750 locations around the country, the lucky winner will be able to find a Premier Inn hotel within 6 miles of every stadium in the top four football leagues in the UK.
Something worth thinking about when Plymouth fans have racked up the most miles, travelling a total of 4868.2 miles to attend away league games during the 2018-19 season. Followed by Newcastle fans travelling 3554.5 miles, Swansea fans going 3570.7 miles, Plymouth lovers going 4868.2 miles and Carlisle fans exploring 4206.2 miles for their team.
Speaking about the dedication fans have for the big game, John Annoh at Premier Inn said, “Every season we welcome thousands of football fans through our doors. We know that travelling up and down the country can take its toll and there’s nothing like a good night’s sleep and a decent breakfast to set you up for a big day ahead. We wanted to recognise the dedication and passion of the fans and give one particularly dedicated super fan a great place to start or end each and every away match, to make the travelling experience that much easier.”
So, to be in with a chance of winning the Away Day Season Ticket lovelies, all you have to do is simply answer a few questions, which will be judged on their eligibility. The questions are:
How many away games did you attend last season?
Have you missed any important life events (weddings, birthdays, milestones) to watch your club play?
What football team do you support?
To find out more head to Premier Inn’s website and to make sure you have entered in time, make sure to send your answers to premierinncompetition@whitbread.com before midnight on the 30th July lovelies to make sure they are in on time for the start of the big games!
Who do you support lovelies? Let me know in the comments below!
Happy Friday!!! At long last, we have made it to one of the best days of the week and with the sun shining brightly it is going to be a good day! Especially if you start it with these brand-new clips from the world of TV and film.
Sing with me now... ONE DAY MORE!!! Another world and a whole host of new films clips, which I hope we can enjoy and use to bring us into Friday.
It is sweltering today in the UK, so I am going to be glued to my aircon covered work desk all day sharing lots of fun items this Thursday. Including all these new teasers...
Summer’s here and the weather is easy! Plus, super perfect to go outside and enjoy the wonders of the great British countryside with a staycation. Picture it lovelies, you could recreate the Mr. Darcy scene in Pride and Prejudice in a beautiful lake in Somerset, bask in the wonders of Scotland like the characters in PS. I Love You or wander through London’s history like many a character has done.
And now with the help of Premier Inn and British movie location expert, Tom Howard, you can find your perfect break even easier. Having found some of the best hidden treasures the UK has to offer, after gaining years of expertise in the world of film and TV, on movies and shows like The Night Manager and A Monster Calls, the pair have created a list of ten less well-known locations that Tom believes are perfect for a 2018 summer staycation. As well, as the closest Premier Inn’s to them, so you don’t have to worry about where you will rest your head after taking them in.
So, pack a suitcase and get ready for the ultimate getaway this weekend by heading to one of the places on Tom’s list below:
Tilbury Fort, Premier Inn Location: Thurrock East: Tilbury Fort is one of the most amazing military forts in the UK. Situated in a very industrial area of Kent it is one of my favourite locations in the UK. Built on the site of an Elizabethan fort the current construction dates from the 17th Century. This English Heritage site also offers free entry for up to six children accompanied by an adult member (under 19 years and within the family group).
Leighton House, Premier Inn Location: London Kensington/Olympia: The perfect location for an Edwardian story, it holds some of the best Arabesque interiors from a time when wealthy travellers explored and were inspired by the Middle East. Leighton House hosts family activities every month, exploring an array of themes and presenting diverse activities for parents and children alike.
Freshwater West Beach, Premier Inn Location: Haverford West: Freshwater Beach is not only one of England and Wales’ best beaches also a regular haunt of the movie world with Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows famously using it as the backdrop for Dobby's Shell Cottage. Although the cottage was taken down after filming you can still walk in the footsteps of Harry, Hermione and Ron.
Charlestown Harbour, Premier Inn Location: St Austell: To the south of St Austell is a tiny period harbour, Charlestown. An unspoilt, purpose-built harbour originating from the Georgian period built between 1791 and 1801, it’s also a prime location for historic television series, Poldark.
Lavenham, Premier Inn Location: Bury St. Edmunds: Lavenham is a jewel of a medieval village located in the heart of Suffolk and is the perfect location for a long weekend, offering a wide selection of places to eat, drink and explore.
Lincoln Cathedral, Premier Inn Location:Lincoln: Lincoln Cathedral is an example of architecture at its finest with The Da Vinci Code and The Young Victoria using this iconic building as a stand-in for Westminster Abbey. The Cathedral has its very own hidden treasures with fossils embedded in the huge slabs of limestone.
Dunnottar Castle, Premier Inn Location: Aberdeen South: One of the most amazing positioned castles in Scotland! A medieval fortress on a rocky headland, the rock the Castle sits upon was forced to the surface 440 million years ago during the Silurian period and has been of great strategic importance over the centuries.
East Lancashire Railway, Premier Inn Location: Manchester Bury: The East Lancashire Railway is a 20km heritage railway line in North West England which runs between Heywood in Greater Manchester and Rawtenstall in Lancashire. Featured in the 2017 movie A Monster Calls, the railway offers a day out for everyone in the family.
Castle Ward, Premier Inn Location: Lisburn: The location of Castle Ward is well-known and loved by Game of Thrones fans. This National Trust site makes the perfect spot for a family day out with activities and maps to find the spots in the estate which have been used in this monumental series.
Speaking about his choices Tom said, “The primary duty of a location manager is to discover places to film which are interesting, unique and not often in the public eye. From a castle on a hill in the middle of Scotland to a heritage railway in eastern Lancashire, the United Kingdom is full of treasures that are off the beaten track. I’m privileged to have a job that sees me scouring the entire UK looking for places that will delight moviegoers and TV viewers and it’s wonderful to have hand-picked a few of my favourites for Premier Inn. These really wonderful destinations may not be the first place that travellers think of but, trust me, they are well worth a visit.”

And how are we all on this sunny Wednesday afternoon? There is a light summer breeze in London today and I am enjoying it right now. I am kind of wishing for those autumn days, which I know is a bad thing to say, but I need some brown leaves, cosy blankets and film nights in.
However, we have a while to wait until those days and so I have gathered some of the best clips and teasers for you to enjoy, which were released overnight. Get ready for all the action lovelies…
As many of you know, I headed to the Amazon Christmas Wish List 2018 event a few weeks ago and whilst I was there I discovered a really innovative brand. Having purchased an iPhone 8 Plus recently, I have found the only thing wrong with it is the lack of a headphone port.
Carrying around the small cable in place of it is something I fear, as I know that I will lose it. And the cost of getting a replacement one can be a lot. As is the cost of Apple wireless headphones, which I also believe I would lose.
There so, when I was looking around the tech area and saw Jabra’s new designs that were small, smart and better designed for bag usage. Plus, they don’t have the annoying white bit that hangs down the eye, meaning they were snugger within the ear.
After speaking with a member of the team at the event, they kindly sent me a sample of the Jabra Elite 65t to trial and I was super excited to do so. Whilst I don’t normally listen to music on my phone, I struggle to listen to voice messages and videos whilst on the go with my phone.
However, after simply connecting these via the Bluetooth setting on my phone, I could hear clearly everything I needed to. They weren’t too bulky and they were able to fit in my bag without taking up any room in their handy charger case. Something that is a lot bigger and easier to keep an eye on than other headphone systems I have seen in place.
In fact, speaking of the charging system, I especially loved this case type element too it. As I’ve stated before I am a very clumsy person and would lose my head if it wasn’t screwed on. There so, seeing the charger and the way it doubles up as a place to keep them safe made me appreciate them even more. I felt like I was getting two products for the price of one.
Coming in many colours, I loved the gold casting of the ones I received, but I also liked the black options and the upcoming sweat proof design too. For me, they definitely felt more inventive and fun to wear. And a lot more affordable too.
Cheaper than other wireless headphones at £149.99, they are worth every penny. I will admit that it is still a bit pricey for a pair of headphones, but when you look at the size, case and added bonuses that come with them, the product has been made with durability and long-lasting features that mean your money will be well spent. There will be no need to replace them in a year or so.
Jabra is a brand I will admit I had never heard of before, but I am so glad I found them at the Amazon event when I did. With cutting-edge technology and fun features that make them stand out, to me they are the perfect mobile gadget for music and film loving fans on the go.
A few months ago, I shared the first look at Alita: Battle Angel, the upcoming film from producer James Cameron and director Robert Rodriguez and now finally I have the first trailer for you to enjoy!
Starring Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley and Keean Johnson and Rosa Salazar, the film is going to be an action-packed adventure for all to submerge in. See what I mean below lovelies:
Plus lovelies, as an added bonus, I have the full Q&A interview, which was where the trailer was first shown for you all to enjoy too…
What do you all think about the film so far? Let me know!
How is it only Tuesday? I swear this day always seems to be the longest one of the week aha! I need some weekend vibes right now! So, I have decided to gather the best clips and teasers we can sneakily watch whilst at work, travelling, school or wherever you may be!
Days before I went away last week, I was kindly invited to my first Christmas in July event thanks to Amazon. Known as the Amazon Christmas Wish List, the company hosted a fun-filled day with more items than I could have imagined. Leaving me with a very long Christmas list.
Upon entering the building, I was greeted by signs for Amazon’s Locker system, their now past Prime Day and Amazon Smile - something I will get onto later - before being welcomed in by the lovely staff members on hand. When I entered the main hall, I didn’t know where to start.
Sectioned off in topics, I began my Amazon Christmas journey in the tech section. If you know me by now then you know I am a complete gadgets girl. Faced with state of the art musical equipment to projectors, there was so much that caught my eye in that moment. However, there was four really stand out items for me.
The first was a KiiPix photo printer, which literally takes the image off your phone and turns it into a handheld image in seconds. Small and compact, the machine needs no electricity and creates the sweetest little designs that you can decorate your home with. Perfect for Christmas Day to hand to those as they are going out the door. The second thing I fell in love with was the Oculus GO VR Headset.
At home, I have a very basic VR headset, which I very rarely use. Yet, when I was asked if I wanted to try this one, which comes with a remote to help you interact with the videos set up on it, I was pretty pumped to try it out. Choosing from a selection of videos to try out, I decided on the Disney Coco one, which took you through the world of the film and got you joining in with the music on screen. From the moment, it started I could tell the difference between my basic VR device and this one.
Clearer and a lot stronger than my own, there was a moment where I actually felt like I was back on a ride at Disneyland. And as you can imagine I got a little bit too excited about this fact! The final tech products that I fell for was a set of wireless headphones by Jabra, which I will be reviewing for you all very soon and the Nintendo Switch. Something I may just have to buy.
Moving on, I was faced with the Amazon Smart Home. Full of devices that make your home come to life, I was given a tour around each room to show how the smart Amazon Echo and partner products can make your life easier.
Heading off to see what else would be big this Christmas, I wandered into the Amazon Grocery section. Filled with goodies that could make the ultimate hampers or festive feasts, the team had brought together some of the biggest names to make Christmas come early.
Hotel Chocolat, Whole Foods, Betty Crocker and endless alcohol and food goodies were on display and I could have died happy in that small section. Honestly, the number of food ideas I now have for Christmas are endless, with that giant Toblerone bar being one of them.
As are the homemade items! If ever you need inspiration on what to buy that is bespoke, then Amazon are here to help. With DNA kits to chocolate delights, they are helping new businesses thrive, including my favourite Victoria Eggs. Having featured them before on the blog, it was lovely to finally meet the team behind the items and to see what they have coming out at Christmas. I am going to be having words with my mum on how many items we can make fit around our table before the big day, as the team has gone but this year.
As I waved goodbye to the homemade area, I descended into the home, toys, fashion and sports section. Whilst I didn’t find out much from the fashion, sport or makeup area, due to going a bit later in the day, there was lots to do in the home features.
Cool square lights that work with an Alexa device but allow you to draw on them, pretty mugs and glasses and a pillow which plays soft sounds and wakes you a little when you snore too much were some of the highlights for me. Yet, I promise kids won’t be sleeping with the LEGO, L.O.L Surprise Dolls and new for this year, Monopoly Cheaters Edition when it comes around to the big day.
Finally, in the main room, I had a little look at the book section. Christmas is always a time for food and not just the stuff they had on show. Amazon is always in the know and this year it seems we will be going made for cool books. The coolest one being, How To Eat A Peach, which has a cover that feels just like a real peach. Fancy as hell my loves!
Before I left the building and returned to the hot July sunshine, I went into a small section of the building to discuss Amazon Smile. Free to you, the scheme is something new to Amazon this year, which allows money to be donated to a charity - including local ones - of our choice without any costs to you. After you have chosen your charity, you simply have to add smile. to the URL to make sure that whatever or when you purchase leads to a donation.
After discovering more about it and the ease of it, I have been using it and donating to Mind in Mid Herts, as they have been amazing with all the mental health issues I have suffered with. Knowing that a small or big shop is helping them is incredible and in the lead up to Christmas when big spends are made, the charities will be rewarded a lot.
Finally, as I headed out into the July evening sunshine and off to Moorgate station, I had one final stop to make. The Treasure Truck is like one of those lorries you see at big open-air markets that sell random but great products for less. However, in this case, you are alerted of the Amazon truck when it is close to you, what it has in it and if you buy it, where to go to pick it up. No more standing around waving money in the air to get the sellers attention.
At the event, the truck was being used as a goodie bag station and a giant bubble machine. The tote bag was a huge surprise and I love everything that was in it. I’m even giving some of the men based items as a Christmas gift because they are so nice.
In the lead, up to the big day, I will be writing up a Christmas Gift Guide filled with the many delights I saw on the big day for you to also enjoy. So, make sure to look out for it in November lovelies! For now, though, I just want to say a massive thank you to Amazon for letting me come along to one of the best events I have been to and for spreading Christmas loud enough for all to hear. Even if it is only July aha!
