Horror films are about to become the biggest thing on TV and cinema screens, as we settle in for Halloween. So how does Lake Placid: Legacy match up? Find out below!

Following a group of young explorers, the film tracks them as they go into the depths of a mysterious lake. Along the way, they find an island, with an abandoned lab upon it. Or so they think, as they soon find that the lab is the home of a deadly predator. One that tests them all and forces them to join in the ultimate battle.

Unlike other horror films, there is a sense of friendship and the need for the group to remain together. Unlike in others where separation is a means to survive. Yet, this TV film fails to bring any other good qualities to life.

Even though this is meant to be a standalone feature amongst the series, it can’t really stand on its own two feet. It does only what I stated above. That is literally it lovelies. No hooks are made to draw you in. No elements are fun for viewing and humour is completely lost in a once great feature.

Starring Katherine Barrell, Tim Rozon and Luke Newton, the cast is given an out of date script, which doesn’t reflect the needs of audiences now. The 1999 Lake Placid, does this better and it was made nearly 20 years ago.
