Sunday Bake: Enjoy An Early Slice Of Birthday Cake With Me and This Two-Ingredient Recipe

08:30:00

Hey Lovelies,

In a few days time (Tuesday 14th July), I am going to be turning 25! To me, age is just a number, but this year I feel like I want to do something big to celebrate. I am not sure what that will be, considering lockdown, however, I want to do something to remember the day. Any ideas?

To begin with, though, I thought I would share a slice of birthday cake with you all virtually, with this week’s Sunday Bake recipe. Super easy, filled with your favourite items and ingredients of your choice, get ready to tuck into this two-ingredient chocolate cake on Tuesday! You will not be disappointed...

Ingredients
  • Four Eggs
  • 260g Chopped Chocolate (Choose Your Favourite!)
Tools
  • 15cm Round Cake Tin
  • Microwaveable Mixing Bowl
  • Two Mixing Spoons
  • Whisk
  • Two Mixing Bowls
  • Spatula
  • Skewer
  • Serving Plate
Method
  1. Start by preheating your oven to 160C/325F, before greasing and lining a 15cm round cake tin. Leave this to one side.
  2. Taking a microwaveable bowl, place the chocolate in it and heat for one minute in the microwave, watching to see when it has fully melted.
  3. Using two different bowls, separate the egg yolks and whites. Leaving the yolks to one side, whisk the whites until you have soft peaks. Then leave this to one side.
  4. Returning to the egg yolks, slowly add them to the melted chocolate mixture, one by one, whilst whisking the mixture. Continue until it is all fully combined.
  5. Using a spatula, fold in one-third of the egg whites to the chocolate/egg mixture. Do the same with the rest, adding one-third at a time, until the two mixtures form one.
  6. Pour the mixture into the cake tin and place into the oven for 25-30 minutes or a skewer comes out clean.
  7. As soon as it comes out of the oven, take the cake out of the tin and place on a serving plate.
  8. You can serve it straight away or allow to cool, however it is best whilst warm, with your favourite topping of choice or on its own.
Don’t forget to share your creations with me, as I would love to share them and continue the fun birthday festivities on the blog lovelies!
