Ciao! Manhattan DVD Review

Good Morning Lovelies,

In her only major role, Eddie Sedgwick stars in the re-released Ciao! Manhattan. A film which will forever live on due to the talents of one of Andy Warhol’s muses.

After taking years to be created, Ciao! Manhattan was released after the young star had died. Years on, the semi-biographical feature about her life makes for powerful watching as we uncover even more about the model.

There are moments of try heartache and sadness, which as an audience member at the time of release would have found hard to watch. As a modern audience discovers it, there is even more sadness to it. Taking on the tough decision to share her story, with herself in the lead, doesn’t make the film unenjoyable but instead truthful.

If no other actress can play you in a film of your life, then to be brave enough to tell it yourself is amendable. Sedgwick makes her story focus on another character, but knowing it is about her makes it more compelling. The parties and celebrity life leading to her downfall causing strong viewing.

When a film packs a punch like this one whilst also educating you, then you know you are in for a treat. Whether you were born in the time Eddie was leading the way or not, she knew just what to do to make an audience tune in.

And there so, I am giving the film...
