Girls Season Five DVD Review

Good Morning Lovelies,

As we prepare for the final season of Girls to take over our screens and to say goodbye to the four ladies who have taught us a lot about what to do and what not to do, I sat down and re-watched season five, as it has been released on DVD and Blu-Ray as of today.

With Hannah, Jessa, Shoshanna and Marnie prepare for the next steps in their lives, the girls present a wedding, new relationships, new job opportunities and loses and the problems that modern women are facing. In the new season though, there is a continuing sense though that the end is yet to come.

The strongest season of the show we have had since the first, the show highlighted Lena Dunham’s talent as a writer, as she captured the different emotions and thoughts that many of us have. Lots of them that are not perfect but that do actually happen.

In this season there is a key change that makes it so much better in fact. By putting characters who haven’t been focused on as much in the lead roles, there stories were the ones that shined. From the relationship that Elijah has to the connection between Jessa and Adam, the show has taken the audiences favourites and placed them front and centre, making our interests grow for the show.

There are of course imperfect moments, including the actions that Marnie undertakes when getting married to Desi, which there is no need for really as she is never portrayed as being certain about wanting to do so.

These moments ultimately let the show down in being a complete success. If these moments were just shown, explained and explored the right way, then the audience wouldn’t get the feeling of being annoyed when they happen on screen.

Ultimately though lovelies, the show is at its peak and going into the sixth season, there is a sense that it is going to have match up to this. The show hasn’t been this good in a long time and Dunham is back with a strong force of new viewers and love from old ones.

There so, bring on season six girls with this very big...
