Good Morning Lovelies,

For years, we were a family who loved having a cheeky takeaway on a Saturday night. We would order it and wait for its arrival whilst watching the likes of Take Me Out and The X Factor. However, since the pandemic, that has all changed! Nowadays, we are a family who loves to make homemade versions of the classics, as a little can go a long way. All for a lot less too.

Something the minds at The Spice Tailor know all about, as they have been making products that allow for those bestselling restaurant dishes to be made at home. Mixing spices and key ingredients together, the team behind the brand have been keeping us excited to try new flavours for years and now they are expanding the range even more.

Taking the delicious tastes of Pan-Asian foods, the team have come up with the Pho Noodle Kit and the Yakisoba Noodle Kit to encourage us all to fall even more in love with noodles. Needing only a few other ingredients to make up each dish, many of which you would normally pick up in your weekly food shop, the kits have everything measured out and ready to be used from the moment you buy them.

Kindly, the company sent me them to put to the test and with a mum who loves asian inspired noodles, it seemed like the perfect fit for us. Wanting to ease her in gently, we decided to start with the Pho kit first. Full of flavours from Vietnam, the kit, which is made to serve two, included Vietnamese rice noodles, with a lemongrass, soy and miso based sauce and spices to help cook together the bowl of dreams.

Following the guidance on the back of the pack, my mum added in some of her favourite vegetables, including broccoli and sliced white cabbage, as well as chunky chicken breast to make the bowl complete. Popping everything into a frying pan, the smells coming from the hob were out of this world.

In a matter of ten minutes, which is the time it takes to make the meal for two, our home smelt like our regular asian restaurant. Something we were very pleased about, as my mum loves going there. Yet, she isn’t a big fan of the cost of it, so knowing that these might be a fantastic replacement made us very excited.

Placing everything into her favourite bowl, she was soon sitting at the table, ready to tuck in. Swirling the noodles around her fork, she also grabbed her spoon to add some of the rich sauce onto them again, before taking the first bite. Moaning as soon as she got the full impact of the flavours, she told me that she loved the way they really captured the true authentic tastes of professionally cooked meals.

Taking bite after bite, she exclaimed that she wanted more, helping herself to the second bowlful, as she really couldn’t get enough. Though, she did state the day after that she wished she had saved some because she felt like the flavour would have intensified even more if left there to set.

Thankfully, this is where the second kit came in handy. Deciding to put this idea to the test, we agreed to try the Yakisoba kit the following weekend. With this in place, I could see my mum secretly counting down the days until she knew she was having them. A fact I was a little surprised about, as I know she can be a little bit like me and scared to try new things at times.

Both of us had never heard of Yakisoba noodles, so when preparing this kit, we were a bit concerned we would do it wrong. However, much like the previous one, the packaging was full of helpful guidance to make sure we didn’t go wrong. Opting to make the dish a fish based one this time, my mum pulled out a fresh seafood mix to add to the umami based sauce.

Again, everything was easily placed within a frying pan, with minimum stewing and stirring required. The house erupted in the delights of the smells coming off of the pan, as the soy and mirin red wine sauce permeated through the air. It was like opening the door to a real asian kitchen and we loved it.

Coating the fish in the sauce before adding in the Japanese wheat noodles, the dish was ready for my mum to tuck into in no time at all. Settling down on the sofa this time, as she wanted to make sure she didn’t miss her Saturday night TV shows, she swirled the dish around her fork again.

Upon asking her how this dish was, she was enthusiastic again at the deep rich flavours that worked wonders on the noodles and the fish. She had added a few vegetables too and found that when the sauce was on the broccoli she included that it brought out the real fresh tastes of it. She stated that the sauce would have also worked great if she had used it as a coating on the vegetables and then roasted them.

Overall, each dish brought a real feast into our home. My mum loved every bite that she took and has since gone on to buy more of them. With so many ingredients working within them, you will never get bored of the options available to mix and match each noodle dish.
