Is there anything better than a chocolate croissant in the morning? Warm and gooey and fresh out of the oven, you can’t beat them! With this easy recipe, you can make a big batch to reheat and enjoy every day of the week with friends, family or simply all by yourself! Because let me tell you, this recipe is built to be loved!

Good Morning Lovelies,

Growing up, my parents would go and do the food shop on a Saturday morning. They would leave super early, when me and my brothers were in bed, meaning that when they came back we would have a special weekend breakfast. To start with these breakfasts would be cereals, however, as we got older they became breakfast baguettes or pastries.

Fruit danishes, croissants, donuts and classic pain au chocolat’s were always on the side for us to pick from. Often, I would go for the pain au chocolat’s from Tesco’s, which I would blitz in the microwave for 30 seconds to melt the chocolate in the middle to burn your mouth levels. And my god was it good!

As I prepare to go away, where I know I will be asked to bake something, I wanted to share a chocolate croissant recipe, which reminds me of those mornings, that the whole family will love. Get ready to enjoy each and every day lovelies…

Ingredients

One Ready Rolled Puff Pastry Sheet

1/2 Cup of Nutella

One Egg

Tools

Baking Tray

Greaseproof Paper

Knife or Spatula

Pizza Cutter

Small Mixing Bowl

Fork or Whisk

Pastry Brush

Cooling Rack

Method

Start by preheating your oven to 190°C or 375°F, before lining your baking tray with greaseproof paper.

Grab your pastry and unroll it on a lightly floured surface. When flat, take the knife or spatula and spread an even layer of Nutella onto half the pastry. Then fold the other half over and seal.

Using a pizza cutter, for easier handling, cut the pastry into strips about an inch wide. Carefully twist each strip to create a spiral before placing onto the baking tray.

Once placed on the tray, use a small bowl to beat the egg with a fork or whisk, before grabbing a pastry brush and coating the tops of each twist. This will give them a golden colour when baked.

Pop into the oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until they are puffy and golden in colour.

When ready, place onto a cooling rack for a few moments before tucking in.

Then simply enjoy lovelies!
