Hey Lovelies,

Last Halloween, the world of Netflix delivered a whole host of spooky delights. A haunted cooking show. A terrifying amount of films. A brand-new drama that scared the world for months. The Haunting of Hill House, which is out today on DVD, Blu-Ray and digitally.

With an all-star cast, each episode became a horrific tale of a family’s torment at the hands of the ghouls in their new home. Some who are very familiar. Based on the best-selling book by Shirley Jackson, Mike Flanagan directs the story of five siblings, who reunite after the suicide of their youngest sibling, after growing up in the most famous haunted house in America.

Unlike when it was on Netflix, the feature comes with never-before-seen footage and commentaries, which add to the suspense. Something that wasn’t needed but makes for an even more intense viewing. With a fabulous portrayal from all the cast, there is a sense that Halloween will never be the same again with shows like this being made.

Ghouls and ghosts continue to terrify and they still tantalising the taste buds of all. Flanagan is brilliant at making it so as well. He doesn’t hide behind how much he can test his audience. He just does it. He makes sure that by the end of each episode, you will want to binge the next. You want to know what the family is going through. You want to know if they come out alive or dead. How is the home affecting them? You just need to know everything. Even if you read the book, you never get enough.

For lifelong horror fans, there is no waiting around to be left delighted by the show. For those who hide behind cushions when viewing, make sure it is a big one. Each twist and turn is filled with spooks, jumps and family drama. There is simply no escaping the haunted house, which comes into your own home to terrify. You will actually find yourself distancing yourself from your own family to avoid anything like this happening to you. Something that isn’t always a bad thing.

Netflix has made a winner of a show with the Haunting of Hill House. The second season is due soon, but until then, it is time to binge the first al over again this week. Halloween will never be the same again with shows like this.
