Film partners come in great waves. Thelma and Louise, Batman and Robin, Bonnie and Clyde and now a new partnership from the fantastic Emmy-winning Lena Waithe and visionary director Melina Matsoukas. The pair behind Makeready’s new drama feature, Queen & Slim.


When a black man (Daniel Kaluuya) and woman (Jodie Turner-Smith in her first film role) head out on their first date in Ohio, they are pulled over for a minor traffic infraction. However, the situation is soon heightened when tragedy strikes, as the man kills the officer in self-defence. Fearing for their lives, the man and woman head off on the run.

Thinking they may have escaped from the events, the pair are soon faced with a viral video of the event, leading to them becoming a symbol of terror, pain and horror for people across the US. All of which, driving the pair to discover themselves and their relationship even further, as their circumstances become furthermore desperate and their love for each other grows.
