Remastered Dracula Review

Hello My Lovely's,

So Lionsgate sent me a remastered Blu Ray version of the classic 1958 'Dracula' film and I have to admit to everyone that I did not enjoy it. Yes I know its a classic but I could not stand the over the top, melodramatic performances given in such a rubbish film.

British cinema is often very good at down playing any melodramatic moments and replacing them with gritty on screen action, however this film is very weak at doing so. Hammer films are normally very on top of their game when it come to horror but this is awful and I actually couldn't sit through the whole thing.

Directed by Terence Fisher, the film is good at sticking to the original novels story but the weakness of his actors who apart from Sir Christopher Lee were awful. I knew of  Sir Christopher Lee because of my huge collection of Tim Burton films, which he has starred in many of, but as for the others I hadn't heard anything from them. This film may have been the reason.

I have to say I am thankful that I saw the Blu Ray version as I hate to think of what the DVD version of this would have looked like!

My dad who is very old told me about the film before watching it and considering he loves the classic he advised me not to watch the film and I honestly wish I hadn't listened to him. I don't care if this film has a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes I am giving it...

2 Stars

Until Next Time...
