When we go away on holidays, we can get drawn into only seeking out the places that everyone goes to! Yet, during my trip to Belfast, I made sure to seek out some hidden gems within the city! And boy, there are a lot of them! The ones in this feature really stood out to me! You will not want to miss them!

Belfast really is a city with a lot of heart. Often mistaken for not being welcoming, it was a place that I really fell in love with. Especially in terms of all that they had going on every day. As someone who loves to seek out small independent businesses, I took this trip to really embrace all that we have never or don’t normally see and I think that was what made me love it so much. 

Whilst it is so easy to get drawn into the everyday things, Belfast is a place to go to if you want to find something unique to enjoy. Whether it be a pub, shop or even a simple alley, there isn’t a corner that hasn’t been marked in its own way that brings something to life within you. 

Therefore, I wanted to share with you all some of the hidden gems that we uncovered on our recent trip that you simply have to seek out. Your heart and head will really thank you once you see and enjoy the following…

Born And Bred, Ann Street: Having spotted this shop online before we went to Belfast, I had it listed as one of my places to find whilst there. With many quirky and unique pieces on offer, this shop is full of traditional Irish souvenirs and items that are simply brilliant. As someone who loves a good swearword, I found the pieces within the shop featuring them to be just what I needed to buy as a Birthday treat. I am going to be ordering from them online now again and again.

Indie Fũde, Ormeau Road: Irish food hits differently. From Taytos to stews, they know how to make a snack and a dish that brings our tastebuds to life. Indie Fũde is an independent food deli in the heart of the city that celebrates the small makers, bakers and cheese creators. If you are looking for something tasty to bring home with you then this is the place to turn too. You can even order from them online if you don’t want to tote it around. 

St Malachy’s Church, Alfred Street: You can’t go to Ireland and not visit at least one church. This one especially if you are in Belfast, as it has one of the most beautiful roofs I have ever seen. From the outside, it may not look like it does, yet, when you step inside, you will find yourself in awe of it.

Friend At Hand, Hill Street: Whiskey is a key part of life in Ireland and this beautiful venue proves it. Not only does it sell the best Irish whiskeys around, there is a little museum in the back of the shop that goes through the history of how many of them were made. Sláinte all day to this one. 

No Alibis, Botanic Avenue: If you are a fan of crime books then this is the place to go. Hidden in a little street, this bookshop runs on just selling the best thrillers out there. With floor to ceiling shelves, there are so many novels to choose from that you can enjoy whilst on your holiday or at home. 

There are so many more unique spots that I could have shared with you, as Belfast is really full of them. However, these ones are right in the city centre and perfect for a quick pit stop if you are looking for something near to your hotel. Plus, all of them are free for you to enter too, making them all sightseeing wonders!
