Birthday Week: Forgotten 00s Moments That I Really Miss

00:00:00

Every day, I long to go back to being little! When times were easier and the only thing I had to think about was if I would get the toy out of the cereal box before my brothers! Having had my birthday this week and nostalgia riding high, I thought I would share some classic 00s moments to remind you of them too!

Good Morning Lovelies,

With my birthday now over for another year, I have spent the last few days thinking about all the things I used to do when I was little that no longer exist or that we don’t do as adults. Many of them were real highlights of my childhood and I am not afraid to say that I miss them.

Every time I leave my house, I have to walk past my old primary school and I get this weird longing to go back to that age. To have the fun moments that those days were filled with. Eating sweets from the corner shop. Playing with my friends outside after school. Going out on big family trips. I miss it all.

The sense of nostalgia is really riding high within me at the moment, so I thought I would share with you all some of the things I have remembered recently that I hope sparks a reminder in you too. Let’s head back to the 2000s with these beauties…

McDonald’s Birthday Parties: No matter what, when I was little, I would always have a McDonald’s party in our local town. Hiring out the top area, my whole class would be invited to eat a classic Happy Meal, play party games and jump in the ball pit that our McDonald’s had. I know that it is not the best food for kids now but it saddens me that these are gone for good. They were unbelievably fun!

Orange Wednesdays: In the UK, we would all long for Wednesdays to be able to go to the cinema for less. Offering text codes, which could be used on two for one ticket offers, you would always find my family texting the people we knew were on Orange for their codes so that we could use them. It was a right of passage for many of us.

Free Toys In Cereal Boxes: Cereal has always been an elite food to me. Though, more so as a kid, when the idea of getting a free toy with my food was very important. Often fighting my brothers to get my hands on it first, I used to love the little bits of plastic that would come. One I can always remember is the Shrek face that would move its eyes to where you moved too. It still blows my mind as to how it was doing it.

10p Sweet Mix Up Paper Bags: Oddly, I would always get these bags of sweets from either my local corner shop or the Post Office. Getting 10p off my mum for one of these bags of pure joy was a huge win. Especially if she let you have a Panda Pop alongside it. I would be buzzing for days in pure joy. Though the sweets never lasted as long!

Saturday Morning Kids TV Shows: Saturday morning TV used to be the best thing in the world. From Smile to Dick N’ Dom In Da Bungalow, I would watch it all. I would pray that my parents didn’t want to go out anywhere, just so I could make sure that I was up to date with what we would all be talking about at school on Monday. My friend even appeared on Smile once and it made our whole class very excited.

Playground Toys That Got Banned: Recently, I was talking to my mum about the toys that we had at school that got banned. For me, the saddest day ever was when these rubber balls filled with water and put on a rubber string attached to it to bounce got removed. I loved them so much, even though there was no point to them. Other toys I remember weren't allowed were Gogo Crazy Bones, Sky Dancers, Tamagotchi’s and Beyblades. Though after school, we would all go wild with them.

What are some of the things that you remember from being younger that you miss now lovelies? I have so many fond memories of being little and I wish a lot of the time that I could go back to those simpler days. However, I will admit, I don’t miss the Pokemon competitions we used to have in the playground. They can stay away aha!
