GOAT Home Release Review

00:00:00

With an all-star voice cast, you could be tricked into thinking that GOAT will actually be the greatest animation of all time! However, this animal based feature fails to hit all the right spots that fails to make it into the net as a groundbreaking film! Find my full review of the film, which may not be the greatest of all time, here!

Good Morning Lovelies,

As Zootropolis Two manages to break every record possible, it would be odd if other animation companies didn’t try to nail the animal cartoon genre. From singing elephants to adventure seeking zoo animals, there is something out there to cover all bases. Yet, none have the name GOAT, which is out now on home release.

Taking on the abbreviation of the greatest of all time, the newest animation from Sony Pictures, follows a young goat called Will Harris, as he tries to achieve his dreams of being the best basketball player in the world. However, when he is faced with having to compete against his sporting hero, he finds that everything he thought he knew about the sport may not be as it seems.

From the moment the film begins, you can see that the team behind it have tried to make a beautiful visual feature. However, unlike those it is fighting for screen time against, it fails to take home the trophy, as it lacks originality in terms of plot.

Even young audience members will be able to guess how the plot is going to go, leading to a lot of other the top moments that are so elongated that boredom sets in. Throughout, it tries too hard to be like its Disney counterpart, which manages to win on every level for originality and creativity.

After watching, you easily forget what you have just seen and the character details, leading to a failure for Sony, who were probably hoping for a hit like their previous features. The leading character is quite boring and not really the star of the show. Yes, he is a cute goat, but he isn’t the best animal graphic that we have all witnessed. It is no Groot shall we say.

The film ultimately feels like something that has been made to raise money for the studio. With a voice cast that will intrigue audiences in, as well as a ton of product placements, it has more advertisements running through it than an actual live game of basketball. Something that has surely been done to draw young audience members in, as they will probably be begging for the feature items before you know it.

GOAT isn’t the worst animation around but it is not the strongest. Worth one watch, the film will keep you and the family entertained for one sitting but don’t expect it to be worthy of a repeat viewing. Whilst little kids may be happy with what they see, the feature won’t appeal to all and that is what makes it a real let down. The greatest of all time is still to be found it seems!
