00:00:00

Cereal is one food I adore! Everyday I have to have a bowl of it! I even eat it dry! Today, I wanted to present you with a recipe for a beautiful bowl of the stuff that is truly delicious! Whether you enjoy it with cold or warm milk, added toppings and a big squirt of honey on top, you will love it!

Good Morning Lovelies,

What are you having for breakfast today? Or what did you have lovelies? Was it a piece of toast with oozing butter and sweet jam? Or was it a hearty bowl of porridge? Whatever it may have been, I hope that you loved it, as breakfast is the best meal of the day for me! Something I think comes from my love of cereal!

Ever since I was small, I haven’t been able to resist having a bowl a day. From Weetabix to Cookie Crisp, cereal is the ultimate comfort food in my eyes. Therefore, I thought I would do something I don’t think I have done before and share a homemade recipe for the good stuff on the blog.

Using affordable and fun ingredients, this cereal is all about you and your tastes, so grab your favourite bowl and spoon and prepare to fall in love with this statement food all over again…

Ingredients

Two Cups of Rolled Oats

One Cup of Rice Krispies

Three or Four Tablespoons of Honey

Three Tablespoons of Applesauce

½ Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract

A Pinch of Salt

Optional Add-Ins: Dried Fruits, Freeze-Dried Fruits, Chocolate Chips, Fresh Fruit

Tools

Two Mixing Bowls

A Mixing Spoon

Baking Paper

A Baking Tray

Method

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 160°C (320°F), before grabbing a mixing bowl and adding in the oats and rice krispies. Mix together until well merged.

  2. In another mixing bowl, add in the honey, applesauce, vanilla and salt and stir again.

  3. Combine the wet mixture with the dry cereal and stir until fully combined.

  4. Grabbing your baking tray, line it with baking paper, before thinly spreading the mixture on top of it.

  5. Place into the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring halfway through. The mixture should be dry and lightly golden when ready.

  6. Upon removing it from the oven, allow it to cool completely, to help it crunch up, before mixing in your chosen add-ins.

  7. Grab your favourite bowl, spoon and milk type and enjoy lovelies!

This cereal is delicious no matter how you choose to enjoy it and is so versatile that you can even make it without even baking it. Simply do the above up until the oven part and place into the fridge or leave out to air-dry instead, before breaking up into clusters! It is a recipe that will sit pride of place on your shelf and in your bowls lovelies! Cereal for the win!
