The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants Review

When you think about films coming out this Christmas, you may be expecting a festive fancy! Yet, this year, the world is turning yellow. SpongeBob yellow, as the little figure who lives under the sea, is releasing his latest cinematic adventure this December and it is sure to be a massive hit! Find out what we thought about the new animated film here!

Good Morning Lovelies,

Odd fact, but SpongeBob SquarePants shares his birthday with me! Something that I think makes us family in some ways. Therefore, he has always had my full support when it comes to his antics. Even if they are often a little bit mad and at times incredibly worrying. Themes that continue on in his new film, The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants

Having kindly been gifted the opportunity to see the film early at a press screening in Leicester Square, our littlest blogger Lola, was able to enjoy SpongeBob and his friends to the max. With fun and games, plus tasty food to enjoy before the film began, the crowd under the sea properly prepared us to enjoy the sequel to their first feature well. Yet, they really didn’t have to go to so much effort, as we loved it from start to finish.

Out on the 19th December, the film continues on from the hit show to tell the story of SpongeBob and his best friend Patrick, as SpongeBob tries to prove to Mr Krabs that he really is more important than his boss thinks. Heading to the deepest parts of the sea, following the path of the Flying Dutchman, he soon finds himself in a spot of normal bother that only he and his fellow sea friends can save themselves from.

SpongeBob has always been a comfort viewing for many of us and this film is another segment of that. Whilst the plot is not original, the story is a fun tale to keep audiences, both young and old, entertained throughout watching. Full of over the top moments that wouldn’t work in a new animation or cartoon, the familiarity of the characters makes it acceptable.

The visuals have never been better when it comes to the overall look of the film. The character voices have never sounded better either. Every element of the film works in fact. Yet, the one that stands out the most is the script. It is SpongeBob humour that unites all of those watching. Even if you aren’t the biggest fan, you will secretly spend even 30 seconds laughing at the story at some point.

When you think that they can’t find any more places or stories to take SpongeBob and co on, the team behind the yellow sponge manage to do so. They are creative geniuses and their work deserves to shine on bigger screens more. Whilst SpongeBob may have to prove to Mr Krabs that he is a big man, he doesn’t have to do so with us, especially when the creators make hits like this!
