Day Three Of Our Dublin Trip: The Ultimate Pint Of Guinness

00:00:00

Dublin was the ultimate dream! Especially when we reached day three of our trip! From sight seeing trips to moments that made me so happy I could have cried, this was the day that truly made my trip! A stranger who cared so much for me went above and beyond! It was honestly truly amazing what they did! Find out all about it here!

Good Morning Lovelies,

As we reach the third day of our Dublin trip series on the blog, I have to declare that this was the day that will forever stay with me. It took one stranger’s actions to make my birthday an unforgettable one. Honestly, what she did made me and my mum nearly cry from shock and happiness.

However, before I reveal how, it’s time to go back to the start of the day. Having been up late celebrating my birthday the night before, we woke up a little bit later but still early enough to cram all that we wanted to do in. Having booked to go to the Guinness Storehouse, via the Go City App, we got up, showered and ate, before embarking into the infamous Dublin rain.

Taking only 10 minutes to walk to from our apart-hotel, we popped up an umbrella and enjoyed seeing the city come to life. Walking along the cobbled roads, we saw pubs filling up their cellars, restaurants preparing their daily dishes and the trucks taking out the barrels of Guinness, as we turned into the brewery.

Joining the queue to enter, it took only a few minutes to be allowed into the building, where we were introduced by a member of the team, by the incredible lease signed by Arthur Guinness, which is placed within the floor. Once the talk was over, we were then left to explore the building on our own.

Each floor guides you through the brewing process, which fascinated me, even though I had seen it before. However, I will say that since we went last time, it has been completely renovated for the better. After seeing all the crops and water supplies, we took the lift up to the next floor, due to my mum’s condition. Yet, upon coming out of it, we felt like we had got lost.

It was at this point that I asked two staff members, who had been walking by, for help. After both wishing me a happy birthday, they helped us get back on track, which we were very grateful for. Going around the tasting areas, my mum tried the drink again and found it to be better this time, before heading into the advertising area, which I simply loved.

Upon finishing within the floors that showcased the workings and history of Guinness, we headed to the Gravity Bar to get our complementary drinks. Something I always do is grab my pint or cup, even though I don’t drink alcohol, as I like to gift it to someone who may not be expecting it. Last time, I found a cute little old man to give it too, so I was on the hunt for someone similar.

It was during my hunt that I found out that I was also being hunted. Emer, the Commercial Finance Manager at the Guinness Storehouse, was the person we had asked for directions earlier in the day and she had spent the time after our meeting seeking to find me. After introducing herself probably, she gave me a big hug and presented me with a bag from the gift shop.

Inside was a Guinness pint glass, however, what made it so unbelievably special was the fact that she had had it engraved to say, ‘Happy 30th Birthday!’ Both my mum and I were in complete shock. No one had ever done anything quite like it and I couldn’t believe that she had spent so much time and effort trying to find me to gift it too. Emer was one of the real heroes of my trip and I will never forget what she did for me.

After such a shock, I managed to compose myself for five minutes to find someone to gift my pint too. A very kind man couldn’t believe it when we handed it over, although I think his friend was a little jealous, so we left quickly afterwards to go to the shop. My bank account took a hit here, as I fell in love with a Christmas decoration and of course a T-shirt.

Heading back out onto the streets, we dropped our stuff off at our apartment, before dodging the rain to get to Dublinia and Christ Church Cathedral. I love to take in the history of a city and with these so close together, we couldn’t miss out on them. Especially when it allowed us to dry off a bit too.

Once we had took it all in, we decided to head back to Grafton Street to return to a few shops that we had missed. Picking up a few bits in the Disney Store, we took a detour on our return home, which was now in the sunshine, to take in a few more iconic shops.

Having been on our feet all day, we jigged back to our apartment to get something to eat and to settle in for the night with a good film. Well, I say to watch a film, as my mum fell asleep within two minutes of getting into her bed. However, I didn’t mind, as I was still flying high from all of the events from the day! And the plans for the next one, which I will share all the action from tomorrow lovelies!
