Day Two Of Our Dublin Trip: My Dirty Thirty!
00:00:00As we continue our Dublin themed week, I thought I would share what happened on day two of our trip! My 30th dirty Dublin themed birthday! Having spent a successful first night in our hotel, I was ready to delve into the city! Get ready to explore a little bit more of Dublin and the real heart of the best city ever today!
Good Morning Lovelies,
Day two of our trip to Dublin in July was a bit more adventurous, as it marked my 30th birthday. I’m not the biggest fan of birthdays but I wanted to mark this one, as it seemed like a big occasion. Therefore, I knew I had to get out and about in the city on this day.
Upon waking up, I was greeted to a decorated room, which had not been that way when I had gone to sleep. After showering and getting dressed, we decided to head to the local supermarket first to get what we couldn’t the night before.
I don’t know about you but I love a supermarket in another country. The things you find are incredible. We had only gone to the local Lidl but the things we got made our trip a whole lot more interesting. After around 30 minutes, we had everything we needed, so we popped back to our hotel to drop them off before the real fun began.
Having loved the Jameson Distillery Tour before, I picked this as my first activity of the day. Only ten minutes away from where we were staying, we got there in no time. We had purchased two of the Go City Dublin Passes before we had got to Dublin, meaning that we only had to show them at the door to be added onto the next tour, which was happening five minutes after we arrived.
Shown through the old distillery, we were invited to share where we were from, our favourite drinks and an interesting fact upon meeting our tour guide. Each section that she led us into allowed us to see the full process behind the making of the drink, as well as its incredible history. There was also plenty of chances to smell, sample and enjoy the whiskey the brand creates too.
Leaving the tour, we headed to the gift shop, before enjoying the sunshine and a stop off at Ann’s Bakery, as we moved onto our next stop. Grafton Street! Every time we had been on this street we had got lost, so I was determined we wouldn’t this time. Before we had gone to Dublin, I had brought two Visitor Leap Cards to make it easier for us to hop on and off buses, trams and trains if needed.
It was upon coming home from Grafton Street that we put them to use for the second time. However, before that, we did a lot of shopping. I knew that Dublin had a Disney Store. What I wasn’t expecting was for the LEGO shop to be right opposite it. It was then and there that I had to really control myself, especially as I had wanted to gift myself a big thirtieth birthday present.
Stepping out of each with only one bag of goodies, I felt content. In fact, all I wanted to do was take a nice walk around the city. I had planned to head back to The Temple Bar but instead I just wanted a calm evening enjoying the sights. We walked from Grafton Street to Trinity College, which is truly stunning.
Continuing on, we walked past Christ Church Cathedral, Dublinia and Dublin Castle, all wondrous sights with real history. We agreed to head back there on another day, as it had got late by this point and we were ready to chill out in our room with a good film.
Having been greeted and wished happy birthday at the door by the hotel staff, we got back at around 8pm, put on our PJs and settled in for the night, planning our next day. The day we headed to the heart of the city, the Guinness Storehouse.
You will have to come back tomorrow to find out all about what happened there, as it was probably my most favourite day of the trip for one very special moment! Let the Dublin adventures continue!
