Day Five In Dublin: Our Sad Farewell

00:00:00

Sadly, the time has come to share all the things that we did on our final morning and afternoon in Dublin! It was safe to say that I was not in a very happy place on this day, as I spent most of it crying about the fact that I had to go home. Here is how it all went down!

Good Morning Lovelies,

On Thursday 17th July, my heart broke and I don’t think it has been the same since. It was the day in which we left Dublin. Something I never want to do. After an incredible holiday and birthday, I wasn’t ready to say goodbye, so doing so was incredibly hard.

With a check out time of 11am, we didn’t have to rush around to leave our apartment, yet we decided to depart it a little early to catch some of the early morning sights. Kindly, the hotel allowed us to store our luggage within it until we had to go, so we didn’t have to cart it around the city whilst we did one final shop.

Heading out of the door, we were faced with the morning rain that we had been warned was coming. Yet, we managed to dodge it, as we went over the Ha’penny Bridge to see what else we might have missed on the other side.

Popping into a few shops, we got some final souvenirs before deciding to go back to the place we started the holiday in. The Temple Bar. As it was so early, we managed to catch a little market taking place next to it, which was so sweet. Especially as it was around this time that the sun came out too.

Taking any opportunity I could get to cover myself in Irish goods, I popped into the Temple Bar shop, before we went into the pub, as I wanted to pick up the top I had spotted earlier in our trip. As I write this feature, I am actually wearing said top. It’s black with a print on both sides of it and I love it.

With the goods in the bag, we walked into a more peaceful Temple Bar, where we caught one final band in the act. It was here that the tears started, as I was already missing our daily trip to listen to the classic Irish songs we grew to love.

As our time ran out, we walked back to our apartment to gather our suitcase, before heading off to the airport to catch the plane home. With a little delay, we took in a few duty free shops, played UNO and looked sombrely out the window as we spotted our plane come in.

Leaving Dublin and Ireland is always something I dread. I’ve cried I think every day since we have been home. The city is my spiritual home and I long to be back there every day. As soon as the plane lifted off the ground to return to London, the flood gates opened and I begged my mum to promise that we would return soon. Something she swore on. And I know we will be doing! That is a sure fact!
