Good Morning Lovelies,
Fun fact for you lovelies but where I am from is said to be the birth place of the epic hot crocs bun! And it is an honoured I am proud that Hertfordshire claims! There so, as we head into April, I thought I would share a super easy hot cross bun recipe with you all.
Taking no time at all, the recipe doesn’t require any proving, which means you can have delicious hot cross buns in a matter of moments. Get ready to begin enjoying these before the festivities begin…
Ingredients
300g of Self-Raising Flour
150g Mixed Dried Fruit
150ml of Milk
75g of Caster Sugar
100g of Softened Butter
Two Tablespoons of Plain Flour
Water
Tools
Greaseproof Paper
A Large Baking Tray
A Large Mixing Bowl
A Mixing Spoon
A Small Mixing Bowl
A Sandwich Bag or Piping Bag
Method
- Start by preheating your oven to 180°C (350°F), before lining a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Place to one side when complete.
- Taking your large mixing bowl, add in the butter and self-raising flour. Rub the ingredients together with your hands until a breadcrumb texture forms.
- Once ready, add in the sugar and dried fruit, before carefully pouring in the milk. Grab your mixing spoon and stir it all together.
- Using your hands, divide the dough into eight even portions by shaping the mixture into buns. Place the complete buns onto your baking tray, leaving a little space between each one.
- Pop the tray to one side and grab your small mixing bowl. Add in the plain flour and a little water to form a paste. Spoon the mixture into either your piping bag or a sandwich bag with the corner snipped off.
- Carefully, using the paste, apply crosses to the tops of each bun.
- When complete, pop into the oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown in colour.
- Once ready, remove from the oven and add a little bit of syrup, marmalade, jam or sugar to the top to add a sticky glaze. Then enjoy forever more!
How do you like your hot cross buns lovelies? I loved mine with a bit of butter lightly toasted or super soft! However you have them, I hope that you enjoy them lovelies!
