Mufasa: The Lion King Review

17:00:00

When Disney announced that they would be making another live action Lion King feature, many of us were wondering where it would be going. Would it be set in the future? Would it follow the plot of the animated sequel? Would the original characters return? Well, those worries were all for nothing, as Mufasa: The Lion King is epic and a must see!

Good Morning Lovelies,

Mufasa is not just a legend on our screens but also in the hearts of many people who have grown up with his wise words. However, for many of us, his story is never really explored. Often left wondering how he became king, audiences have only ever experienced his tragic death at the hands of his brother.

However, in the new life action sequel, directed by Barry Jenkins, his story is being brought to live in an incredible way. Going back to the start, the film begins with Rafiki, the mandrill, sharing how two lions came to be the most powerful within the pride to Kiara, Mufasa’s grandchild and the daughter of Nala and Simba. Capturing Mufasa’s early childhood, as an orphan, the film shares his adoption into the family of the young prince Taka, who later becomes Scar through jealousy and rage.

With added commentary from other characters, such as Timon and Pumba, the film is an excellent portrayal of our beloved favourites and their story. Jenkins has used his award winning touch to present a story that gives us everything we could want and more. From beautiful original songs to enchanting plot lines, there isn’t a sequel quite like it from the live action Disney world.

Every voice is recognisable making the story telling that they provide even more enticing to hear. Especially with the likes of Beyoncé, Seth Rogan and more providing their charming talents. Jenkins has truly used them to their full advantage and it gives off all the best vibes.

After kindly being gifted the chance to see the film, with so much fun in the foyer beforehand, the film lived up to all of our expectations and more. Disney, Jenkins and the cast and crew can be proud of this story and the enchantment it brings.
