Blogmas Day 17: Five Ways To Feel Better When Sick At Christmas
00:30:00Christmas is a time when we are all out celebrating! However, it is also that time of year where many of us get sick! Something that can be very disheartening, as we all want to be up and celebrating! Yet, there are lots of things you can still do to get in the festive mood whilst getting better! Find out more right here!
Good Morning Lovelies,
Being ill at Christmas is the worst! Believe me when I say that I have been through it a number of times, even spending Christmas Day as an inpatient, and it is never easy. However, there are lots of things, even from your sick bed that you can do to feel a little bit better. And they don’t take any effort to do either!
This may seem odd to say but sometimes being ill actually gives us the greatest gift of being able to relax and rest. I mean who doesn’t love a good old snuggle on the sofa or in bed, whilst the world is cold and wet outside. There so, if you are fighting the flu, a cold or just a general bout of winter sickness, then try to rest but find a little distraction in the good it can bring by doing one of these activities to help distract you…
Read That Book: Have you been meaning to pick up that book you have wanted to read for a long time? Well, now is your chance. Whenever I am sick, I always have a book by my bed to read. When you fall in love with the characters and plot, all those horrible germs seem to be forgotten about.
Snuggle Up With A Festive Film or Box Set: Bring out all of those classic films and TV shows and binge away in pure delight. If Kevin in Home Alone can spend hours watching TV then so can you. It’s the perfect medicine when struggling with a sickness.
Enjoy A Warming Bubble Bath: Showering may seem like a bit of an effort right now but a luxurious bubble bath won’t. Pop in some music, grab a face mask and slather your hair in the best creams, whilst sitting back in the warming water. When you get out, you will feel so toasty that you will ease into a restful nap or sleep easily too.
Drink All The Best Festive Drinks Possible: Grab the hot chocolates, warming teas and energising coffees out of the cupboard and drink until your heart is full. Keeping your fluid intake high during a sick bug is vital, so any form in which you can get it in is good. I’m partial to a warm Vimto or Ribena I do have to say.
Phone A Friend or Write Them A Letter: Feeling a little lonely? Why not use the time toting a friend or even pen them a letter. I’m sure that they will love to hear from you, whilst also giving you lots pick me ups too. Having continuously battled a horrible infection over the past few months, I would have honestly been lost without my friends recently.
There are lots of other ways you can stay occupied when I’ll lovelies, including journaling, getting crafty and having a wonderful nap. The ones mentioned above are just a few that I hope can help you feel a little bit better when you are feeling rubbish or even when you just need a me moment!
