Blogmas Day 18: Make These Mini Savoury Pastries To Elevate Your Festive Buffet
00:30:00You can’t beat a good old fashioned festive Christmas buffet! That gorgeous selection that makes its way onto our tables in the evening, after the beautiful main meal! From sweet to savoury, the shops go wild at making sure that we have options for everyone. Yet, you don’t have to spend a fortune on making an impact. Something this very easy recipe shows!
Good Morning Lovelies,
The main meal at Christmas has taken over the limelight for too long! In our house, we used to all love the evening buffet more, as my mum would go all out for it. Honestly, the selection was endless, from classic sausage rolls to the fancy fish and crisp options too. However, no one was allowed to touch the king prawn ring, as that was always my dad’s.
Whilst she would often go to the shops to get a few bits, many of the items were homemade in the end. Sausage rolls, mince pies and more. Including these pastry bites, which she likes to make alongside cheese straws and other savoury dishes.
Using only three ingredients, these puff pastry wonders will save you money whilst wowing guests. They are honestly the most perfect delights to dish up…
Ingredients
Two Ready Rolled Puff Pastry Sheets
A Pack of Ham (Slices or Trimmings)
Grated Cheese (Ready Grated or Home Grated, Any Kind or Mix)
Tools
A Baking Tray
Baking Paper
A Pizza Cutter or Knife
A Fork
Method
Start by preheating your oven to 200°C before lining a baking tray. Pop to one side until needed.
Sprinkle your work surface with flour before rolling out the pastry. Then cut it into small squares or rectangles using a knife or pizza cutter.
On one side of each square, place a piece of ham onto it before sprinkling the cheese on top.
Carefully fold over the unfilled side to form a rectangle. Press the edges with a fork to help seal it.
To brown the pastry, you can use a little bit of water and brush over each shape.
Place into the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the pastry has puffed up and turned golden.
Once ready, enjoy hot or cold, but be quick as they will go fast!
Super quick and easy, you can enjoy these in under an hour lovelies! Plus, they are so adaptable lovelies, which means you could swap the meet to onion or another vegetable for vegetarians or make them completely non-dairy for vegans. You could even place your festive leftovers in them for a Boxing Day delight! The possibilities are endless!
