When thinking about what to get someone little for Christmas, what is the first thing you think of? For me, it is always a good book! Growing up, a book or a trip to the library to get more to have in my hands was a dream. They were so special to me that many copies of the story I read are still on my shelves in our home. 

Yet, there are also books on there that no one else can enjoy. They are books that mark down the history of our family, as I have made special novels for my mum, filled with pictures of our treasured memories. I like to make one each year for her, however, I hadn’t got round to it this year, until I heard about Storydo. 

Creating bespoke hardback books that tell the family history and story for the child that they are for, the books they create go back to even their grandparents stories to give them the full details that make them who they are. Using a simple platform, the child’s parents are asked a series of easy to answer questions. 

They can then upload family photos which fit in with each chapter. All of which done online, with no rush to fill out, after payment is taken after chapter one. With seven chapters to fill out, the BookBuilder creates layouts and suggestive texts, which you can edit to make more personal to you and your story. All of which making it a very very easy process to do. 

The books are normally designed for children from a few months to seven years, however, to see what they were like, I was kindly offered the opportunity to make one, so I edited it to work for me and my mum’s story. And at the price of £69, I was so impressed with what I was gifted with in the end. 

Featuring her best qualities, loads of images and even an emotional section that broke down the sadness surrounding my dad’s death, every single area was captured wonderfully. Every single type of family is thought of, including single parents, which made making this a lot easier, especially when I didn’t have to edit to much of the text about two parents being present. 

Developed to bring a sense of self worth to the child, I really know that when my mum gets it on Christmas Day she is going to love it. We keep saying that it is just us two now, after our third musketeer left us sadly and this book captures our relationship wonderfully. Plus, it is so beautifully presented in a purple hardback version and I can’t wait to see it on display in our house.
