I’m announcing it! Cosy season is officially here! With the leaves starting to brown, the kids back at school and a new diary starting, it’s time to get snuggled up in the evenings with a good book! Fresh on display at Hertford Library, discover my top ten picks and book of the month for September, which will have spending your days reading away!

Good Morning Lovelies,

I find that when it comes to September, I like to set a restart on the year. It’s my time to shine, as I embrace the cold, cosy months, a lot easier than the hot ones. For me, it’s those quiet moments in the evening that are spent reading a good book that make my heart happy.

Therefore, I’ve chosen some ultra snuggly reads for you to enjoy this September, which you can pick up on my display at Hertford library or at your nearest one. I hope you like them…

Book of the Month: DallerGut Dream Department Store by Miye Lee - What would you do if you found out that your dreams were something that our minds buy? In the incredible novel, our leading character uncovers a world of characters in a department store made to do just that. This book will stay with you forever.

The Pumpkin Spice Café by Laurie Gilmore - I think I’ve featured this book before, however, when it comes to the start of the cosy season this book is perfect for it. Snuggle up with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and fall in love with the leading characters, who are navigating a You’ve Got Mail, type story.

A Pen Dipped in Poison by J.M. Hall - With the kids going back to school and spooky season close, this novel mixes teachers and detectives together. When two retired teachers find themselves and others receiving white envelopes full of mysteries, they set out to solve the clues. Follow as they try to find out who the culprit is.

The Bingo Hall Detectives by Jonathan Whitelaw - Much like the one above, this is a mystery set with comical situations. After his mother in law’s fellow bingo friend is found dead, Jason seeks to find out the mystery surrounding the death. What he uncovers will leave you shocked to the core.

New Beginnings at the Old Bakehouse by Christie Barlow - It won’t be long until, it is Christmas and this book throws us right into the heart of it. When a clairvoyant tells Molly that something scandalous is going to happen in her little village, she can’t believe it involves her. With a new baby on the way too, this book is full of cosy comforts that will make your heart sore with happiness.

The Housemaid is Watching by Frieda McFadden - When she begins working for a new family, the secrets that are uncovered amongst each page leaves you gripped right up until the very end. Each section provides more and more eerie entertainment amongst its pages.

My Dark Romeo by L.J. Shen & Parker S. Huntington - There have been many retelling of this classic Shakespeare play. Yet, this one is in a league of its own. With family rivalry, love affairs and a female lead who holds nothing back, this will take you back to your old school days or interest you more in the English lessons you are in.

Girls in Love by Jacqueline Wilson - With a new book on the horizon, it is time to catch up with Magda and her friends to see where we left them. Wilson’s new book will see how they have navigated adulthood and I can’t wait to see how these teenage girls have grown.

The Other Side of the Story by Marian Keyes - No one knows what is really happening behind closed doors and this book proves it. As the lives of three women, who are all connected in some way, get tangled together, they find that the only way to help themselves is to help each other.

Tara Road by Maeve Binchy - Like The Holiday but set in summer, this book sees two women switch lives and homes after some horrible incidences. Both find new lives, wishes and dreams along the way that make for epic reading.

Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman: It has just been announced that the classic film is going to get a sequel, so now is the perfect time to pick up the book it was based on. Plus, with Halloween coming, it’s a great way to get those fall feels going!

What have you lovelies all been ready? Or what do you plan to read? Let me know!
