Good Morning Lovelies,
As many of you know, I love a bargain, which is why I am often searching the world of freebies and deals online! One website I love is LatestFreeStuff, which gathers the best daily deals around to share with us!
To celebrate the hard work that the team do, I asked their social media guru Daisy to take a trip inside our time machine. Get ready to go back in time to one of the best decades around!
There were major bonus points here for the mention of Tracey Beaker…
Let’s begin by letting you introduce yourself to us? Tell us your name, age and the year you were born!
Hi, my name is Daisy! I'm 23, I was born in 2001. I work for a website called LatestFreeStuff - and I write every post and manage their social media channels.
Now, let’s step back in time! What year would you love to go back to and relive all over again?
2012! Everything seemed to be amazing that year. The London Olympics, loads of amazing pop culture moments, it was such a fun year.
Okay, now picture this, you are at school and it’s lunchtime! What foods do you always associate with either your packed lunch or canteen?
Custard, jelly, and arctic roll. Mixed frozen vegetables too - then something like fish fingers or a pie.
You’ve got to go into your last lesson of the day! What are you hoping it will be and why?
English! My favourite lesson. It's paved the way for my career as a content writer, and I've always loved reading and writing. So English lessons were always a highlight.
Schools over, you have rushed home to watch TV. What are you turning on? Why this show in particular?
Probably whatever is on CBBC. I didn't watch much TV as a child, and we only had freeview. I'd hope it was something like Tracy Beaker - I loved all the characters and all the drama in this show.
You’ve reached the weekend and you’re going to the cinema! What film do you remember seeing the most when you were younger? Why is this one such a classic to you?
Definitely Horton Hears a Who, I think I'd been to the cinema before seeing this, but my biggest cinema memory is around this film. It's got a great message about caring for and listening to others - something we should all do more of! It's also got cute characters and I liked Dr Seuss's books when I was much younger too.
You are back home and it’s time to play with your toys! What was the toy you most wanted when you were younger and why? Did you get it in the end?
Always some games console - whatever the latest one was at the time, or a Kindle! I think I got most of the toys I wanted as a child, I had to wait a lot - or I got a Nintendo DS and Wii for free as part of a competition when I was 7.
Is there anything you still own from your childhood that you simply cannot bear to part with?
Yes! I have a favourite soft toy, that I still have to this day. I've attached a picture of me with it. I used to take him everywhere and couldn't sleep without him. Now, he stays at home, and he's a great little decoration.
What moment in history do you think defined or stayed with you from your childhood? Can you explain why this left such a mark on you?
I think the 2012 Olympics again. It was such an amazing time, where it felt as if everyone had come together to be happy and celebrate the successful Olympic games we had that year. I think back to it a lot - it was an exciting time for everyone I know. This question is so hard to think about a good answer for, but the 2012 games really feel like the defining historical moment of my childhood.
Finally, would you go back and do your childhood all over again? Would you change anything about it? And how much has it impacted you as an adult and what you do now?
I don't think I would! There are things I'd like to change - but then I don't think I'd be who I am today, or have had the opportunities I've had. I believe that everything has happened for certain reasons - and now I'm at a place where I feel happy and am working towards things I'm excited about.
I absolutely loved this chat with Daisy, as it was like a step back in time to my own life!
