Stay In Bed For Longer! It Might Just Save You!

00:00:00

It’s taken me a while but finally I am embracing longer mornings in bed! Instead of getting up at 4:30am, I am allowing my body the rest it needs until around 6am! It’s been a hard transition, however, it has been so worth it! Literally, those extra moments might just save you from any form of burnout! Find out why in this post!

Good Morning Lovelies,

Ever since I was an inpatient, I have struggled to sleep! Throughout the night in hospital, the nurses would come in with flashlights, shining them right into our eyes as we tried to sleep. They would slam our bedroom doors. We had to be up by 5am to even get a chance to shower, have our meds and get to breakfast on time. A time that was a lot earlier if we were being weighed.

All of these elements made my sleeping patterns go wild. For a long time, I had it nailed, but after a traumatic year, it has got bad again. Now, I struggle to get to bed before midnight, which meant my body was running on around four hours of sleep. Yet, I’ve been trying to rest more by going up a little earlier and staying in bed to around 6am.

My head goes wild about it, as my ED calls me lazy, however, I know that my body and mind need the rest. I’ve been sinking into a downwards hole that I don’t want to go back in, so I’m changing my ways. Something that I can already see and feel the benefits of.

My stomach no longer wakes me up in agony. I don’t feel like I am going to faint or just flop down. I’m not sat at our dining room table falling asleep whilst eating. I’m enjoying the feeling of getting into bed and dreaming. Okay, they might not always be good, but they are better.

The reason I am writing this post is to remind myself and you lovelies that it is okay to rest. I know what the voices in your head might be saying, as they say it to me as well, but I promise you that your body needs that rest.

So, skip that alarm and set one for a little bit later or not at all. Enjoy your duvet days for longer. Wear your PJs from the moment you get up until you get back into bed if you want to. Rest, relax and live again!
