Good Morning Lovelies,

December is sadly over. The tree and decorations have started to come down and now the dark January nights are settling. With cosiness being an essential element to help us get through the coldest months of the year, I have picked some great books at Hertford Library to snuggle up with. Grab a hot chocolate, blanket and a soft seat to enjoy the following…

Book of the Month: Good Material by Dolly Alderton - Alderton has a way of exploring the beauty of relationships in such a personal and relatable way. Having spent time talking to lots of men to find out how they really feel in regards to breakups, this will change everything you thought you knew about how men may respond.

Top 10 Books This Month:

The Woman In Me by Britney Spears - Telling her most intimate secrets, everything you thought you knew about Britney Spears is about to be changed. Speaking about the highs and the lows of fame and her career, you won’t forget anything she has to say.

Heartstopper: Volume 5 by Alice Oseman - Graphic novels have risen in popularity throughout the years, especially due to Oseman’s Heartstopper series. After a cliffhanger volume four, the fifth instalment in the series came out just before Christmas and has been the talk of the town since. Grab the latest release or go back to the start with this fantastic new find.

How (Not) to Have an Arranged Marriage by Dr Amir Khan - Not wanting to upset his family and religious tradition, a young doctor hides his whirlwind romance from everyone. Yet, he is faced with the ultimate challenge when his mum and dad decide to arrange a marriage for him. Funny but honest, this is book that will teach you a lot, whilst also keeping the environment light. You won't want to put it down.

Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy - As the world dives into the idea that we must all change to be worthy of entering a new year, this book will remind you that you are perfect just as you are. Now also a popular film on Netflix, Dumplin’ will reignite your heart with warmth this winter.

All In Monte Carlo by Anna Shilling - If you are dreaming of a hot, sunny place right now, this book will transport you to the beauty of Monte Carlo. However, you may not want to spend the time enjoying the environment like the characters in this book do. Based on a real story, All In Monte Carlo, follows one woman who unveils what the dark side of Monte Carlo and the people who go there are really like.

Omelette by Jessie Ware - Looking to be inspired with your food choices in the new year? Singer Jessie Ware shares her love of food and the stories behind some of her favourites in this beautiful short piece of nonfiction. Best read over breakfast with a beautiful selection of pastries or a classic omelette!

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros - After taking TikTok by storm, Fourth Wing is a new adult novel with all the grittiness of Game of Thrones and fantasy of Dungeons and Dragons. Following 20-year-old Violet, the heroine of this book must fight to save her family, the life she has built and the world around her. The sequel has just been released, however, you must read this first to enjoy it lovelies.

The House of Fortune by Jessie Burton - Known for her way of mixing history and fantasy together, Burton has done it again with this new novel. Be prepared to be zapped into the world of mayhem and chaos, right up until the last page.

The Humans by Matt Haig - When an alien lands on earth, he is horrified to discover what human kind has done to the planet. Looking into the dark world that has happened, due to climate change, the book has a lighthearted nature, as the alien brings out the good in the humans he meets.

Unruly by David Mitchell - If you loved Horrible Histories as a child, this new book from comedian David Mitchell is very much like an adult version of it. You will find interesting facts, humour and history all rolled into one with this book.

What books have you all been reading lovelies? Will one of these make your list? Head to Hertford Library from today to discover the selection above available for you to book out! It’s snuggle season after all!
