Barbie Is Out Today! Mark The Occasion With These Five OG Barbie Picks...

Good Morning Lovelies,

Barbie is one of my favourite things in the entire world and to celebrate the release of the film today, I thought it would be a good time to look back at some of the great Barbie films we have experienced so far. If you are unable to go and see the new feature today or you are eager to have even more Barbie in your life than these are perfect for you.

From animations to feature films inspired by the famous doll, there is something for everyone in my top five Barbie viewings that you are going to want to watch ASAP…

Barbie and the Rockers: Out of this World (1987): This is the OG! The original Barbie film that had everything you would want and more. Created in the 80s, the visuals aren’t the best, yet it doesn’t make it anymore brilliant. Rewatching it again recently, in the name of research of course, the feature sees Barbie, Ken and her group of friends rocking out in space and around the world. If you haven’t seen this feature, you really need to, as I think the new film will recall this one a little bit. It is on YouTube now and only 47 minutes long, but worth every minute.

Barbie in the Nutcracker (2001): I remember being really ill one Christmas (not an odd thing for me!) and being treated to this on VHS. Upon seeing the festive feature for the first time, I was enchanted by it. I watched it again and again. I bought it on DVD when they came out. I couldn’t stop watching the magic come to life. If the new film doesn’t celebrate this feature then I will be a little disappointed I won’t lie.

Barbie as Rapunzel (2002): Whilst we may all now love the new Tangled feature now, this was one of the first animations to celebrate the classic story. I believe this is the film that showed me how perfect love could be and I fell hook, like and sinker for the feature. Off to Woolworths I went again to buy this with my birthday money. I still have this film on DVD in fact!

Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper (2004): Probably one of the biggest Barbie films of all time, this is now a meme winner in every aspect. There was a CD out when the film was first released that I listened to on repeat. The story was brilliant at showing that no one should be seen as different and I hope we have epic ballroom scenes like this in the new film.

Toy Story 3 (2010): Okay, so technically it isn’t a Barbie film, but it has one of the best Barbie and Ken appearances of all time. This is when the Kenergy really began, as we see him modelling his outfits in the dreamhouse for Barbie. It's fun, cheesy and above all else perfect. Plus, the person who voices Barbie in the film, Jodi Benson, is also the person who voices Ariel in the original animation.

Which Barbie film is your favourite? Will you be watching the new one? Let me know what you think of it lovelies!
