THE FACE OF LOVE REVIEW...

09:44:00

Hey Lovelies,

A few weekends ago, I worked out early and decided to spend the whole day watching films to review! It was upon this that I found a disc which had been sent to me called ‘The Face Of Love’, which had an interesting plot line to it, that not many romance films have with it. While the film was sad throughout, it did bring a sense of joy with it that I feel many would like.

For a storyline, it was fresh and gave the characters a raw outline, which would touch many audience members’ hearts. As the female lead can’t accept her husband’s death, and finds comfort with a man who is identical to him, you see it as a form of protection instead of a couple who work. She is unable to let go and the way in which this is conveyed, is precious and calm, yet stormy from the get go.

Playing such roles needed careful casting and Ed Harris and Annette Benning, are perfection. They play the characters with emotion and with a sense of realness that makes the audience vulnerable to them, as you feel like you are watching real people.

It of course has its moments that as an audience you doubt and feel would not be acceptable, but I feel that as an audience member you don’t think about these moments too much. But instead move on from them to see how the couple will work out in the future. Leading in to an ending that will shock the audience, due to its movement away from the normal romance genre endings.

Therefore this film is going to have to face this…

4 Stars

And as an added bonus to this review I have a few clips from the film to share with you...
