Good Morning Lovelies, 

With so much football on our TV screens, I actually found myself watching a few matches. Something I didn’t expect to ever happen, as I only ever watch a game when I need to. Even as someone who supports Spurs, I don’t follow it religiously and often turn over to something else instead. 

Yet, July didn’t provide us with a whole lot of entertainment on our normal channels. Leading to me turning to my streaming services and local cinema to get the entertainment that I need. Over the past month, the following viewings really hooked me in when I need a good binging session…

Elle, Prime Video UK: I had such high hopes for this show and was saddened that it didn’t draw me in like the films did. Whilst I didn’t hate it and I thought the lead actress was great as Elle, I simply couldn’t get into it and actually gave up after four episodes. I wish we had been given another series with Reese Witherspoon instead. 

Maternal Instinct, Netflix UK: My best friend Dee, who at the time of writing is very close to having her baby, told me to watch this. To say I was gobsmacked would be an understatement! I cannot believe the lengths that the woman in the show went to to keep her lie going. Even weeks after watching it, I am still in shock at what I watched. I don’t know how my friend watched it whilst pregnant. 

Power Ballad, In Cinemas: I adored everything about this film! As soon as I hear that John Carney has a film out, I am one of the first to see it. Capturing the heart of Dublin and the beautiful music it creates wonderfully, Paul Rudd is a stand out in this comedy drama. Anyone seeking a feel good pick me up should watch this. And then Once. And then Sing Street. Just anything Carney has made really. 

Toy Story 5, In Cinemas: After the mishap that we will call Toy Story 4, the fifth instalment improved things dramatically in my eyes. I loved the focus on Jessie and how much her story came full circle. It is a film made for adults in my eyes, as it shows that we never really let those wonderful toys from our childhood go. In fact, I still have my trusted cuddly toy dog on my bed. 

Fair City, RTE One/Player: This show is my little guilty pleasure. As you all know, I love everything to do with Dublin. Even this fictional town within the city. I started watching it just before we went to Belfast and now I am hooked. I want to see Jacinta be punished. I want to find out if they will ever find out where Carol’s mum is. I am obsessed!
