Good Morning Lovelies, 

Growing up, I was obsessed with Super Mario! Whether it be on the DS or the Wii, I couldn’t stop playing it! The brothers were my gaming icons and I found myself often yelling at my screen in hopes to beat the nasty characters who tried to stop me in my tracks! 

Therefore, when the wonders of Nintendo announced that they had granted permission for a film to be made focusing on the Super Mario Galaxy world, I was intrigued. Sadly, it didn’t match up to my expectations, as the Super Mario Galaxy Movie missed out the key parts of the much loved gaming storyline. 

Upon Princess Rosalina being kidnapped by the evil Bowser Jr, Mario and Princess Peach embark on an epic quest to save her. It sounds so simple, yet with very little plot to actually follow, the story goes on a wild chase to try and please both gaming and film fans alike. 

With a recognisable voice cast, made up of the likes of Chris Pratt, Jack Black, Brie Larson and Anya Taylor Joy, the story could have used their skills and talents to build a better outcome for itself. Yet, it lacks any sense of real creativity. 

In fact, some of them become so drowned out in the wildness of all the on-screen action that you miss a few of the cameos that occur. Ones that could have actually brought a sense of saving grace to the mix. 

As we head into the summer holidays, the film would and should have been the perfect thing as a family to settle down with and watch. Yet, the madness of it all will make even the littlest of members want to go off and do something else. Unlike the first feature, it fails to hold your attention for long and with no incredible song to go with it, there is simply an empty hole that it doesn’t fill.
