If there is something we at Let’s Start With This One… love, it is a fantastic day at a theme park! From Disney to LEGOLAND, I can’t get enough of them! Especially if they immerse you into the action! The brilliant Kynren does just that, as it takes you through magical worlds full of history and wonder! Find out all about it here!

Good Morning Lovelies, 

Over the weekend, the blog ventured into worlds unknown! Fresh for 2026, the incredible immersive theme park, Kynren, has come to life to help keep the whole family entertained. All whilst being incredibly educational too! With sites revolving around vikings, victorians and medieval knights, they have something for all the family to enjoy! 

Kindly given the opportunity to head down to the theme park and its immersive lands, I was sadly unable to make it due to falling ill. However, Chris, a fantastic podcaster and host of the brilliant 37 Disney Street show on Youtube, was on hand to help make sure that the blog didn’t miss out on any of the action. 

Heading to the attraction with his family, including his wife Laura and two sons, Oli and Lucas, the foursome headed into the park completely unaware as to what they should expect. Arriving at 12:15pm, the group were welcomed into the green car parking area, before leaving their own trusty steed behind to travel into the main event area via the free shuttle bus and on foot too. 

Getting to the gate, they were warmly welcomed by the first faces within the world of Kynren, who scanned their tickets to allow them in. Walking into the first event space, the foursome found themselves within the land of the vikings, as they got the chance to walk around the area known as the Viking Settlement. With beautifully made Viking inspired homes, people in fancy outfits walked out to greet them, immersing them fully into the world of Kynren. 

Handing the boys viking tools and clothing to feel, the hosts within the settlement area began the family's educational journey into the different worlds. All in a beautifully detailed way that made everyone feel like they had fully gone back in time. However, this feeling was only just the beginning, as the first show really stepped up the action. 

After fully embracing their viking ways, the group settled down for their first production, the Land Of The Vikings. Stepping onboard the mighty ship, or under it in many cases as you go fully under a norse inspired boat at the entrance, the Land Of The Vikings provides a 360º stage, which none of the other lands did. By using this staging, the wonderful norse history was presented perfectly, making every young member want to go away and learn more about the vikings and their horrifying but legendary ways.

Moving onto the second land of the day, The Lost Feather, presented a bird show like no other. Dodging the beautiful animals as they flew overhead, the arena was situated like a scene taken from The Hunger Games. Over the course of around 50 minutes, the birds listened to the trainers well, bringing a spectacular sight to life for all to see. The real gem of this stage though was the way in which the music really intensified the setting. Making hearts race throughout the birds flying around to it led to pure tension but real joy. 

The next land, The Trusty Steed, continued the story, with voiceovers from familiar radio legends including the cast of The Archers as narrators. Over the course of the production, horse races, sword fights and castles were brought to the forefront, as they battled each other to come out on top. This production led to heart racing moments of entertainment.

Having been thrilled completely, it was time to take a relaxing walk around Victorian Imaginariums. A land built around the Victorians. With the sun shining overhead, this immersive moment in the day was truly the perfect place to bask in the glory of the weather. Providing the little ones with the opportunity to play classic Victorian garden games, the area was available to spend as long or as little time as you wanted to within it. You could even buy a souvenir within the area too. 

It was here that Chris and his family picked up a few snacks, including hot dogs, burgers and rice dishes, which included gluten free and allergen friendly choices too. Although, it is best to double check, as there was a little bit of a mishap regarding an ice cream, which was not gluten free in the end. The actors within this area are definitely a lot more chilled out though than the other lands, meaning you won’t have to fear a viking stealing your sandwich.

With hour long breaks in-between most of the shows, you could also take part in a dining experience whilst at the event but Chris and his family were happy to enjoy the food options available. The menu for the Time Traveller’s Feast does look amazing however, as it brings together foods enjoyed by the Tudors, Romans and Vikings, to provide a banquet the whole family will love. 

After a quick pitstop, Chris and his family were soon on the move again to head to their final land, the Legend Of The Wear. Taking place over a stunning lake, the show captures how England was built and the different parks of English folklore. All whilst being told through the eyes of a young man called John and a young woman, feared by many, called Elisabeth. It is a gripping story that is full to the brim with action, as they fight to defy the odds to make history of their own. Anyone who loves a bit of thrill will find this stage the best. 

After leaving the arena, Chris and his family had time to grab another bite to eat and relax a little more in the open spaces within the attraction, before heading to the final main event. With expectations high, after the wonders of the Legend Of The Wear show, the foursome were ready to embrace the main event. The night show called Kynren: An Epic Tale Of England. Presented over 90 minutes, it is unlike anything any of the group had ever seen before at a theme park. Including Disneyland Paris.

With endless amounts of water stunts, fireworks, pyrotechnics and beautiful scenes set out amongst a castle backdrop, which emerged out of the water, young and old will find wonder in the little mentions of historical figures including King Arthur, Macbeth and many more, as the show brings British history to life in a way many won't have seen before.

Taking audiences back to the 2012 London Olympics, it captures the same sense of British joy that the makers of the opening ceremony did. With the added glitz of fireworks, costumes and outdoor wonders, as well as the national anthem right at the end, you will step away from the park at the end of the night more in love with England than ever before. 

The show presents how far we have come and the reasons why England is so wonderful in a way that no other show, park or land has ever done before. It is a real beauty to see.  With over 1,000 people on hand to help perform and stage the epic story, you are left wanting to congratulate each and every one of them for the brilliance that the final segment of the night is and brings. 

It is worth paying extra to see it, as Chris stated it was the real highlight of the day. The night show is only available on Saturdays however, so make sure to book for an upcoming weekend trip if you want to see it ASAP, as I am certain they will sell out quickly.

Upon writing this feature, I asked Chris to help me with it by not only telling me his thoughts and feelings towards the attraction but by providing his own personal review. Here is what he had to say about Kynren overall…

“Ok so first off, yesterday was great! We parked in the green car park and it was a 20 minute walk down the hill. Myself and my son Lucas decided to do the lovely countryside walk, whilst my wife Laura and our other son Oli took the shuttle bus, which took two minutes. We were worried about walking back up with the crowds, but accepted that it may be what we’d have to do as shuttle buses were surely going to be packed [at the end of the night].

We entered at 12:15pm and were on the Knight schedule for the whole day with four daytime shows to see, a Victorian house and a Viking village to explore as well as food, a kids playground and the traditional night time show now in its 10th year. 

The event had only been open for a week but it was incredibly well staffed by the ‘Archers’ who were attentive throughout, including a professor who introduces you to his imaginarium, Victorian ladies who are trying to find a husband, whilst vikings are making chainmail, wool and harvesting crops. There is a wealth of interesting, engaging interactions at every turn and as the day progresses, we find Knights and others parading the public areas, interacting with everyone.

Onto the shows then. We started with The Land Of The Vikings, a tale of a Viking village being invaded by water vikings. An exciting battle ensued with superb acrobatics and performances. This was the most intimate of the shows with only half of the attendees attending at once. The other three involved everyone.

Second up was Legend of the Wear. Set in a village on the banks of the Wear, there was some fantastic water play on a truly stunning set as the villagers battled a witch outside of their home. Oliver particularly enjoyed the girl who kept ending up in the water! Our third show was The Trusty Steed. A ‘Knight’s Tale’ style story of a lady and her horses’ rise to winning a jousting battle. This one included horses, sheep and some absolutely stunning riding.

Our final daytime show was The Lost feather, which was moved to later in the day because of the wind. This was an absolute highlight of the day for me. We saw birds of all kinds flying around us - an eagle, owls, vultures, parrots. They all came out one at a time, but the last 10 minutes was an absolute treat as birds of all shapes and sizes flew around our heads. It honestly brought tears to my eyes!

The day's activities came to an end at around 6:30pm. With the evening show not starting until 9:15pm, we had some time to reflect on the day, as we ate great food at the food court. The whole event had been really enjoyable, but as each event ended, we had an hour to waste before the next one and having seen the Viking village and Victorian section in the first hour of the day, it left us with only food and the play area to entertain us. 

So we got into the habit of leaving a show and sitting at a table talking about what we’d seen whilst the kids went to the play area for a bit. It wasn’t bad that we did this as such, as the whole pace was steady and easy, which made what was ultimately a very long day more bearable.

As we sat and ate, the number of people in the public areas quickly doubled as people arrived for the main attraction. And we weren’t disappointed. As the sun went down, we took our VIP seats in the auditorium and watched a tale of the British Isles, from the bucking settlements to the end of World War 2, ably performed by enthusiasts and volunteers called, “Archers”. Long boats, iron works and a castle emerged from the water, fireworks lit up the sky, projection mapping and water projections brought the whole thing to life in something which is truly a site to behold and something that anyone visiting the area should take the time to visit.

Overall we had a great time, and it’s a memory we will remember for a long time. I look forward to seeing how the attraction evolves over time as it was superb. We arrived home at 1:30am, so from door to door it was around a 15 hour day, but it was absolutely worth it.

I have so much respect for everyone down there volunteering. In the evening show, at times there must have been 150 to 200 people performing along with animals! The technology and dedication for the Archers on stage, back stage, in the shops and restaurants was Disney level and the scale of what they are doing is superb!

So did we have to walk up the hill back to the car park? Nope. Because the organisation of the buses at the end was like nothing I’ve ever seen. There were volunteers everywhere directing everyone to the right bus for them, meaning we were on a bus in five minutes and back in our car within 10! Overall, from start to end it was a really enjoyable day."

With a limited amount of time to see it, Kynren is the theme park that I am certain will get everyone talking about it! Having had so much praise already, I hope that it returns next year, so that I am able to capture it in all its glory myself. Hearing about the brilliant day that Chris and his family had made me so happy, as well as a little jealous that I missed it, as I could see the real joy in his eyes when he was telling me all about it!
