Our Experience Of Take That: The Circus Tour 2026!
00:00:00Take That have been around for 30 odd years now and they are just getting better and better! After waiting a very long time, we finally got to see them live and to say we loved it would be an understatement! Find out all about what happened when we caught them at London Stadium on a very hot Friday night in June here!
Good Morning Lovelies,
It has always been a life long dream of mine to take my mum to see Take That. I can recall the exact moment that this idea came to be in fact. I was 15, standing in the middle of our school hall, as we played a game thought up by our teacher, who was playing Take That during the match.
I had been brought up listening to them because of my mum, so when the lyrics to Never Forget were being sung out, I joined in, which impressed my teacher. There and then I made the bold claim that I was going to take my mum to see them. Even though I had no money or way of doing so. Yet, the dream always stayed with me.
With a few tours occurring from the time that I made this vow, we always seemed to have something standing in our way though. Family matters, personal situations, money saving and a pandemic. All of which led to chance after chance passing us by.
Yet, when the band announced last year that they would be bringing back The Circus Tour, I knew it was now or never. It was the tour my mum had dreamed of going to. She even had a DVD copy of it from years ago. So, I knew it was meant to be.
Purchasing them as her big Christmas surprise, I thought the reaction she had upon opening the tickets on Christmas Day was going to be the icing on top of the cake. However, it was on Friday 26th June 2026 that the real core memory was built.
Six months on from getting them, we thought the hottest day on record to go to London Stadium to see the boys. I had been so worried that the weather was going to affect my mum’s enjoyment, as she does not do well in the heat, but she surprised me endlessly. Opting for an Uber/Bolt to get us there and back, we had a cool journey to the stadium, before heading to the accessible seating area, as both my mum and I have conditions that mean we don’t do well with stairs or limited spaces.
We had decided to miss Belinda Carlisle, as we had seen her before and were not that bothered about watching her again due to wanting to stay out of the heat as much as possible. We did want to see the second support act, The Script, though. As you all know, anything Irish and I am there for it.
I don’t know how but Danny, the lead singer, had so much energy, even though he was sweating buckets. Running around the crowd, singing loudly and even having his bum squeezed by a fan, he really set the bar high for the night and got everyone going. Playing hit after hit, it was the 40 minute set that I needed to reaffirm my love for the band that I had always had.
After finishing up, my mum and I were ready for the party to really start. Nipping to the toilets, which I will state was hotter than hell inside, we eagerly stayed in our seats afterwards, watching little pieces of the circus come to life. At 8:30pm, right on time, the cloud people and circus acts were gathered by their ringmistress to start the show.
Moving the car up to the hot balloon on the B-Side Stage, they soon let them go to unveil the band underneath them to huge cheers, claps and a lot of screaming from people of all ages. You definitely could not say on the night that we went that it was all women of a certain age, as there was all different groups of people, highlighting the band’s universal appeal.
Starting the night with Greatest Day, they continued, under the blazing sun and horrific humidity, to deliver hit after hit. I don’t think I stopped singing once throughout it all and my mum was eagerly dancing when she could or tapping her foot in her seat when she had to rest a little.
The staging was out of this world too. From circus tents to flaming hot effects, including a real life trapeze act, a woman pretending to be a giant metal elephant's tail, whilst hanging upside down, and the boys riding their cycles, everything had been put together perfectly. No faults could be made, as everything was just chef’s kiss perfect. In the words of Gary Barlow himself, it was our idea of a perfect day.
Walking out of the stadium that night, she grabbed my hand and thanked me endlessly. She told me it was the best concert that she had ever been to and that she loved every minute of it. When I say I could have cried tears of joy would have been an understatement.
Looking back on the night, as I write this piece, I am so grateful that we get to share moments like this together. Giving her the greatest day, no pun intended, is all I ever want to give her and seeing how much Take That brought into her life was just incredible. I know that when they announce their next tour, we will definitely be booking up to see them again. Though, hopefully not in the middle of a heatwave. If they can arrange an autumn dated one that would be perfect.
Even if you are not the biggest Take That fan, I would still encourage you to go, and if you are a fan and can do, book up a ticket for the next show. You will never be disappointed by what you see and I can’t emphasise enough just how brilliant it truly was. We haven’t stopped thinking about it since and I doubt that feeling will go away anytime soon. Take That really are ruling the world with The Circus lovelies! And my mum and I are ready to be a part of it any time!
