Always looking for ways to improve my time in the kitchen, I was excited to find out about the new gadget from the wonders at Microplane, who are experts at getting the most out of our foods! Out now in eight different colours, their new two in one formulated Spice Mill is going to be the best thing you buy for your home!

Cooking is something that I am not very good at! I can bake but when it comes to cooking, I really do struggle. Therefore, I am always looking for things to help me utilise my time in the kitchen better. Having tested a number of items over the years, I have fallen head over heels for many of the Microplane range, including their new Two In One Spice Mill, which is a game changer. 

Out now in eight new colours including Cashmere Beige, Dusty Rose, Lipstick Pink, Sage Green, Eucalyptus Green, Sky Blue, Denim Blue and Dark Grey, the two in one spice mill allows for easy grating to be done on some of the hardest foods and spices out there. I am talking about solid cinnamon sticks, whole nutmegs and of course the classic peppercorns. 

Having kindly been sent one to test, I couldn’t wait to see how it worked. So, I headed to my local supermarket and brought some whole nutmegs to pop into to go within a rice pudding that I was baking for my family. Getting everything prepped, I followed the recipe I had right up until the nutmegs were introduced with ease. This is when I needed the mills help. 

Popping open the top compartment, I added in the two nutmegs I needed, before closing the airtight seal over it. Opening the bottom section of the mill, I then easily twisted the movable lower section, witnessing the ground nutmeg falling out of it in no time at all, thanks to the stainless steel blades within the mill. 

Once I knew I had enough, I then applied the silicone lid over the blade and popped the mill onto my spice rack, as the lid allowed for secure storage and no waste. Something I was very happy about, as we are trying to cut down on food waste within our house. 

In no time at all, I had finished the rice pudding and was ready to pop it into the oven. There was no arm aches or swearing involved like there normally would be when trying to grind up the nutmegs. Instead, there was a sigh of relief that all had gone to plan and I could sit back and enjoy more free time in the kitchen to bake something else. 

The Microplane Two In One Spice Mill is a gadget that I am fully on board with and hope that many of you can enjoy using too lovelies. It made things so much simpler for me and I really loved the ease of having no mess or cleaning up to do at the end. Although if I had, the tool is super easy to clean too, as all the components come apart easily to make cleaning a breeze.
