New Foods I Have Enjoyed So Far This Year!
00:00:00Recently, I have tried to be a bit more adventurous when it comes to my eating again! In small but impactful ways, I am constantly working to see that no food is bad and everything can be enjoyed, no matter how big or small a dish may be! Here are a few new foods that I have introduced into my life this month!
Good Morning Lovelies,
A few years ago, I used to write a piece each month about the foods that I had introduced into my life. As someone who is constantly fighting to stop that eating disorder voice in my head, I have really tried to spend some time recently embracing the foods that I want to eat and not the ones that it tells me are okay or that I should stick to.
I won’t lie, it is never an easy process for me to do that. I am constantly afraid, emotional and also at times let down by myself. Yet, every single day is a new one to start again and each small step to getting there have been steps that I am proud of. Therefore, as we reach a new month, I thought I would share a little update on some of the new foods I have tried so far in 2026.
Some of these are reintroductions and others are foods I have never had before, with some even being spur of the moment buys that I have conquered and won a little bit of the battle with. These include…
Pink N White Wafers: My mum and dad used to eat these all the time when I was younger, yet it wasn’t until I was older that I started getting into them too. For a long time, I would have one a day with a coffee, but then I was unable to handle caffeine anymore and after breaking my jaw, I couldn’t chew the marshmallow, so they became a fear food. Having decided to break that fear, I picked up a packet recently and have been enjoying them again. You have to eat one wafer then the other and then the marshmallow in my opinion!
Aldi BBQ Sauce: After learning that I have IBS and a bad allergy to histamine, I have had to change the things that I eat a lot. Therefore, I can no longer have a lot of tomatoes, with ketchup being a big no no. I have been testing a lot of other sauces to try and replace it and after a long internal fight, I put this to the test and found it to be gentle and easy on my stomach. Out of all the new foods I have had recently, this was the one that oddly scared me the most, but when I have it with sweet potato, I find that the fear is eased by my enjoyment of it.
Beyer Fruit Jam Selection: If you have been here for a while then you will know that I absolutely adore jam! All kinds of it! However, I have to admit that I am a big sucker for an apricot one. Every day, I have a dollop of the stuff every day, as well as a sandwich for a meal at times. Spotting this selection packed in Costco, I was amazed at how good it looked, so of course, it had to come home with me. Made up of 95% of natural strawberry, apricot and blueberry fruits, each one has been elevating my bowl of cereals to new heights.
Olympus 0% Fat Free Strained Greek Yogurt: Having had to go lactose free after finding I am mildly intolerant to the sugar in dairy, I am always aware of what is in certain items now. Yet, I have found that I am still okay with greek yogurts. Often I pick up the Aldi one, however, on a recent trip to Costco, I picked this up off the shelf and brought it. I didn’t let the fear of never having had it before stop me. I just did it. And I can confirm that I loved it! It was so creamy, thick and perfect as a snack with fruit. I will definitely be picking it up again when I next go.
Aldi White Sourdough Toasting Loaf: For a long long time, bread was a food I was terrified of. I couldn’t get over all the scaremongering that was being put out about it, so I cut it all out. Over the years, I have been able to manage bagels and crumpets again, with wraps being a little part of that too, but sliced bread has never been easy. Yet, after spotting this new loaf in Aldi, I picked it up and had it toasted with apricot jam and apples on top. It is now a weekly staple of mine and I am so happy to finally be able to enjoy my favourite kind of sandwich again. Jam sandwiches are just such a comfort to me.
These may seem like small changes to some but for me they are huge. I have wanted for so long to have some of these and to be able to finally conquer them has made me so happy! Especially when it comes to the yogurt and jams, which I brought completely off the shelf and enjoyed almost right away! Slow and steady will always win the race lovelies!
What have you all found and enjoyed that is new to you lovelies? Let me know! I may just try them myself!
