Good Morning Lovelies,
Going back to school after the Christmas holidays would be something that I would dread. The idea of going back to a boring classroom with no festive decorations made me want to cry. In fact, even thinking about it now makes me feel a little sad.
Back then, I would have loved nothing more than to have learnt in a fun way. One that would have made me excited to discover something new about the world and the subjects taught in school. Therefore, when I was told about a new scheme that does just that, I had to share it.
Made for children between the ages of three to eight, the My Pirate Pen Pal project allows little ones to learn about historical facts from around the world through letters and stories that arrive through your door, through the magic of the main character Captain Blue Beard. Created using information from the national curriculum, each letter has proven to help develop children become more confident, as they help them to use their cognitive skills to answer and solve the activities that each letter comes with.
Upon learning about the letters, I was kindly approached by the team to see if I would like to sample one of their activity packs. Arriving at my home in a bright red envelope, I opened it to find a lovely welcome pack inside, which included a piece of gold, pirate themed stickers, a personalised letter and a whole booklet full of fun.
At 30, I don’t think I am the main aim of the activities, but you can bet I still had a lot of fun completing them! Themed to look like an old letter that pirates would have really created, the letters and booklet featured wordsearch and math puzzles, image games and more to help get little ones minds going. I found that whilst completing them, I would spin the coin in my hand, helping me to fiddle away any stresses that they may have brought with them.
With over a year’s worth of content available, the letters are available through a subscription scheme, allowing children to get letters each month that are personalised to them to help them learn something new but not in a school setting or disciplined way. These letters are educational but fun, without the heavy costs that can come with some tutor schemes, as the whole year is £96.87. A great price for what you get!
If you are struggling to get your little ones to complete their homework or to read a book, this is a great way to get them to be interested in studying more. Plus, with the little free gifts, they will feel like they are being rewarded for doing so, which will make them even more eager to complete the tasks. I know it would have made me so!
To find out more about the brand and to see all the incredible things that they do, head to the My Pirate Pen Pal website, where you can discover all the information about the items! You may find yourself walking the plank if you don’t lovelies!
