Shacks Hoku Stay: Why Off-Grid Holidays Are The Newest Must Do Breaks

00:00:00

Never before had I imagined that the blog would be invited to try out an off-grid experience but boy was I excited to try it! Kindly gifted the opportunity to do so by Shacks, the blog has spent the last week hiding out in the fantastic hills of Llangollen in North Wales, taking in life and sights that you could only dream about!

Good Morning Lovelies,

On Monday, the blog set off for an out of this world opportunity. Kindly gifted the chance to go completely off-grid, the team at Shacks invited us down to their Hoku shack in Llangollen in North Wales to try wild living at its best! Set atop the glorious green hills that Wales is famous for, the site and experience was truly incredible.

Having been provided with all the information that we would need for our stay before we arrived, we were up bright and early to travel to the shack. Check in was at 3pm, so after a few stop offs, we arrived just as the heat was dying down. Yet, the shine was still shining as we drove up to our cabin.

Using the code provided to find the key, we opened our shack to find everything that we could possible need for the next five days. Inside the shack, we had a beautiful king size bed, with windows all around it, allowing maximum views of the sun rising and setting. The true gem of the stay and shack. Even when it was night time, you didn’t want to shut the curtains to sleep, as it was absolutely stunning.

Hoku also came with a fully stocked shower room with a composting toilet, kitchenette and a selection of books and board games to play in the cosy evenings. There was even a set of seating and a fire pit to enjoy outside too. Something we really enjoyed upon opening the complimentary bottle of wine that we had received, whilst taking in the sights.

Known as the sister shack of Vega, which is in the same area, the site is close by to many local attractions, which we blissfully took in. From scenic wild walks to the Off-Grid Wild Sauna, available at an additional cost, everything we wanted was only a short drive away. Often picking up food from local places, there wasn’t one dish that we didn’t enjoy, whilst there wasn’t one pub that didn’t charm us in with its cosy vibes and Welsh selections.

However, if you did just want to just stick to being inside your shack then they were well catered for too. Inside the kitchen area of the Hoku site, we found loose leaf tea, olive oil, salt, pepper, coffee beans, with a grinder and a kettle to make the best afternoon drinks. Plus, all the equipment needed to make a meal, both inside and out.

We loved making a cuppa, on the kitchen’s hob, after enjoying a hot shower, whilst nestled up in bed escaping the wind with the in cabin log burner going. And don’t worry, all of the wood was provided, with extra being able to be purchased too if needed.

The five days spent we spent in the shack were truly wonderful! Allowing for a real chance to reconnect and enjoy just being was exactly what was needed. Taking away screens and phones to be with each other meant that we could really enjoy the alone time. All whilst taking in the real wonders of the world.

Shacks provided us with the opportunity of a lifetime that we will never ever forget. From gorgeous sunsets to cosy sunrises, everything we wanted and more was achieved over the past week. We are already desperate to go back to escape the busy schedules that we have at home.

Anyone seeking just some quiet time away from everything should try an off-grid holiday. There is nothing quite like it but thankfully Shacks are making sure that we all learn about them and love them. We honestly can’t thank them enough for letting us have this amazing opportunity. It is a core memory made!

To find out more about their shacks and where they are, as well as how to book them, head to their website! Once you experience them, you will never look back!
