The Best Cereals Of All Time According To My Family

00:00:00

Cereal is a key food in our home! Apart from my dad, there hasn’t been a person who has lived under our roof that hasn’t loved it! In fact, my dad would eat it dry like a biscuit, which I now find myself doing often! There so, I thought it was about time that we all celebrate the best ones on the market!

Good Morning Lovelies,

When it comes to cereal, we love it! It is one good that I can safely say that I love to the ends of the earth and I truly think that it has helped me. Without trying so many of them during my ED journey, I don’t think I would have got over some big food hurdles in my life.

I am not the only one though who loved it, as my brother can easily do a whole box in one go. And I’m proud of him for it! We also enjoy them in a lot of different ways. From yogurt and fruit topped to warm milk, we are a family that goes a little bit all out.

There so, I thought it would be fun to share the cereals that rule in our house with you all. The following are not in order, as we couldn’t judge them fairly. Grab a bowl, spoon and a box to enjoy these with…

Shreddies: Since the granny based advert, where they knitted the little squares, I have loved these! They have that warming factor about them that just feels traditional. With warm milk, they are pure perfection.

Cheerios: Don’t get me wrong, some may say these are boring, however, I love the mixture within these little hoops. Plus, they make the milk have that very famous and gorgeous cereal milk taste.

Weetabix/Weetabix Minis: When I first started to struggle with food, these were my safety net. They helped me to start eating breakfasts again and I am so grateful to the company for making something that has helped save me. Even the mini ones are true gems!

Bran Flakes: Another cereal that could be seen as boring but are actually delicious! Everyday, when I worked in London, I would take these with me to have for breakfast on the go. They would keep me full for ages and motivated to work too.

Rice Krispies: My current favourites, I love these with jam and warm milk. I am so obsessed with these little wonders that I go to Costco and bulk buy the big boxes. My home will never be without them.

Chocolate Hoops: Whether they are the branded kind or not, I love these chocolate rich lovelies. They are truly the gift that keeps on giving, as not only do they provide a tasty treat but they also give us chocolate milk too. Winner, winner, cereal for dinner!

Corn Flakes: Coated in chocolate at Easter, warmed up with milk on their own or simply to enjoy dry as a snack, you can’t beat a classic staple and this is one of them. These flakes help to fuel me when I enjoy them with a dollop of blackcurrant jam too.

Multigrain Shapes: We love to eat these as little biscuits or snacks when on the go! They have a beautiful taste that is subtle but strong. I have a box in my cupboard always.

Frosties: My mum loves to have these with either a fruity yogurt or some evaporated milk. Yes, people may moan that they have to much sugar in then, however, we only live once and these deserve to be within it.

Curiously Cinnamon: It’s a bit ironic that these cereals are included in this list, as it was actually whilst eating them that I broke my jaw. After a fall, these were the final piece of the disaster. Yet, I still ate them, coated in milk sweetened by their spices. You can’t beat these in winter!

Shredded Wheat/Bitesize Shredded Wheat: If you need a bit of a health hit then these are fab! Plus, if you crush them up, you can make brilliant chocolate treats with them too. I definitely prefer the mini ones, however, my family are big fans of the bigger versions too.

Cookie Crisp: Whilst my brother loves a big bowl of these with milk, I actually prefer to eat mine in an odd way. I like to have these like a biscuit, yet, here comes the odd bit, I have to have them with warm runny honey. Don’t diss it until you have tried it!

Oatibix: These flakes are delicious! Full of good hearty oats, they also a have a subtle sweetness to them that makes them so moorish. You can’t have to just one bowl of these.

Golden Nuggets: A staple cereal of both our childhoods and adult lives, me and my brother can’t get enough of these. Even my mum finds joy in having a bowl. They are little nuggets of nostalgia.

Ready Brek: I can remember being little and my mum being ill, so we snuggled up on the sofa and watching Bridget Jones Diary, whilst eating big warm bowls of Ready Brek topped with crispy sugar. It’s still a core food staple in our cupboard, which is always broken out in the colder months.

Coco Pops: Not something that appears often in our home, I am appreciative of this cereal, as it was the first one I had when eating breakfast out recently. It was a huge challenge but I am proud of myself and thankful for this cereal that I was able to do it.

Flavahan’s Jumbo Porridge Oats: Irish porridge is the best in the world and I won’t buy any other kind of oats but these. I already have plans to bring a whole load of them back with me from Dublin in the summer. I love them so much, made with water and warm rich dark runny honey.

Maple & Pecan Crisp: Another core memory in my life is having loads of this with my mum. The boxes are never big enough, so you do have to hold back. The best way to eat these are to let them sit in the milk for a few minutes, as the milk absorbs the maple syrup and the cereal stays crisp but easier to eat.

Honey Puffs: I’ve had this cereal all over the world! From my home in Hertford to a caravan on holiday, when a bag of this fulls into the hands of my family, we love it. It has busy Saturday mornings, as a little kid, all other it.

What cereal do you love lovelies? We are a huge cereal family and I am so proud of it! I’m actually going to go and tuck into a bowl of Rice Krispies with Blackberries, a dollop of jam and warm milk to celebrate in fact! Grab a bowl and join me lovelies! You won’t regret it!
