My November 2024 Book Choices At Hertford Library
00:00:00It only seems like yesterday that I was picking out the festive books for Hertford Library last year. However, as 2024 continues to zoom past us all, I have some very exciting new and classic releases on display at the library from today, which will help you hibernate away in your cosy nook this winter! Bookmarks at the ready!
Good Morning Lovelies,
Winter is all around us and that means it’s time to get all the books in and snuggle up! Pop the kettle on, get a hot chocolate and sip away the pages, as you binge on the books below that are now on display at Hertford Library. They are also all available in local bookshops and online too!
It’s time to embrace the cosy nooks in our home with one of these wonders…
Book of the Month: The Life Impossible by Matt Haig: Not a festive one but a fantastic book to unwind and escape with. Matt Haig knows how to really delve into the human brain and this new book about inheritance is a real winner.
A Winter in New York by Josie Silver: When a young chef discovers a family recipe that might lead to love, she goes on an epic journey to create the perfect mixture. Enjoy with a mince pie or two to get those extra warm feelings lovelies!
The Tanglewood Bookshop by Lilac Mills: Jumping at the chance to open her own bookshop, our leading lady discovers the wonders of leaving city life behind to embrace a more rural way of life. One full of majestic characters and Christmas treats.
Hot Mother by Nancy Peach: This comedic book will help you laugh along with the stresses of life as we battle the hardships of the festive season. Delving into life with the menopause, this book is a modern day Bridget Jones type.
The Lonely Hearts’ Quiz League by Lauren Farnsworth: Winter is all about pub quizzes by a roaring fire. This book will transport you to a night at a new local where four lonely souls are looking for love. Fall for them whilst they fall too!
An Unfortunate Christmas Murder by Hannah Hendy: Christmas isn’t always rosy, as this murder mystery takes us on a journey into the dark traits of the season. Much like a Cluedo plot, this will keep you guessing until the very end.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins: The Hunger Games was an annual film outing every November! Whilst we can still delve into them on screen, it’s nothing like the books. This prequel tells the story of President Snow and how he came to be so evil. We will take the snow in his name as the festive reference.
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott: Starting with one of the most famous quotes of all time about Christmas, this book is the ultimate cosy read. Whether young or old, this classic should be enjoyed with a hot chocolate, snuggled up under a comfy blanket.
Happy Bloody Christmas by Jo Middleton: Funny but thrilling, this new comedy changes everything you might be expecting. Giving off Inside No.9 feels, it’s a fantastic read from start to finish. If you like Agatha Christie, you will love this!
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah: Not so much a winter story but more of a cold adventure, this book focuses on a semi biographical story of one family’s move to the great Alaskan wilderness. Our cold weather in the UK won’t seem so bad when you read what they faced at times.
Stories For Winter And Nights by the Fire by the British Library Women Writers: This gorgeous collection of short stories by the women writers at the British Library captures the true heart of winter! Each piece makes you appreciate the little wonders of life during the cold months a whole lot more.
What are you all currently reading lovelies? Let me know!
