My love for a good advent calendar has no limits! Over the years I’ve had all different kinds. From the tradition chocolate kind to LEGO, Elf, Yankee Candle and more themed ones, I’ve experimented with the lot. Apart from the Playmobil ones! 

Having seen them in shops and at a few events, I was always fascinated by them, but felt a little too old to enjoy them. Well, until now! Having spotted them again at The Big Christmas Press Show, I was enchanted by the festive range on offer this year. From a Christmas Sleigh Ride to an Asterix themed feature, there is a calendar for all the family. Something that made me love them even more. 

After speaking to the team at the event, I was kindly sent the ultimate calendar to try. The Jumbo Family Christmas Advent Calendar, priced online at £54.99. Upon arriving, I couldn’t believe the size of the box. It is the biggest advent calendar I have honestly ever had. With big and small items behind each door, the Family Christmas calendar comes with a full sized Christmas themed house that each day allows you to decorate. 

Featuring a Christmas tree that actually lights up, presents with actual gifts inside, all the best housewares and full sized Playmobil figures, who you can dress up in their festive best. I was in awe upon opening a few days. I’ve always loved the idea of decorating a dolls house. This fulfilled all my dreams. 

Something I really loved about the design was that it can be transformed after Christmas. Whilst the set comes with festive reusable stickers, these can be removed and stored safely in the box, allowing the house to be used all year round. However, I have to say, I would be happy to keep it festive themed through all the different seasons. 

Seeing everything the calendar included, the price is actually brilliant. At first I was a little shocked that it was a bit costly, but seeing how well the calendar and all its features were designed completely changed my mind. The house isn’t just for Christmas but for every day of the year, meaning endless hours of fun. Plus, Playmobil have made the items completely economical, which allows for joy to be spread even further. 

My first experience with a Playmobil advent calendar has been a huge success. As December approaches, I can’t wait to open up all the days and complete the house. I will be keeping mine festive themed when done, placing it out on display each year. I may even make it a new tradition to add something new to the house every year, such as a festive figurine or decoration. 

I cannot thank the team enough for allowing me this opportunity. I will now be looking out for all the new Playmobil sets each year to add to my collection.
