This year, it is all about the adults, as the wonders at LAKRIDS BY BÜLOW have brought back an old favourite from the dead that is going to make everyone turn to the darkside! Good Morning Lovelies, 

Every year, I get this urge around Halloween time to go trick or treating. Even though I am 31, I feel like I should still be allowed to do it. After all, who set an age limit? However, I haven’t ever been brave enough to go and do so as an adult. Instead, I stay in and hand out the goods. Though, I secretly save a few for myself. 

This year though, things seem to be changing. No longer do us adults want to be tied down to boring nights in or the same parties each year. No, we are looking for something more exciting to entertain ourselves with on the spookiest night of the year. Something that will have us all turning to our darker sides. 

Thankfully, the wonders at LAKRIDS BY BÜLOW have heard of this desire within us, as they have brought back an old friend to help us celebrate in style. After removing the much loved Sea Buckthorn flavour from their range a while ago, the brand has decided to bring it back out of its coffin for a limited return. And like Dracula wants blood, we all want a bite out of these. 

Gifted some to try, we were amazed at the colour of them when they arrived. Turning up alongside some of the fruity flavours from the brand, the Sea Buckthorn kind were a beautiful burnt orange colour. The perfect reflection of the autumn season. Made up of both sweet and tart tastes, the product described the liquorice as being flavoured with the ‘lemon of the North.’ A description that both excited and scared us. 

Popping one of the sweets out of the clear jar, we found that encased within the orange coating was white chocolate, sea buckthorn and the brand's classic soft liquorice. Taking a bite, we got hit after hit of each flavour, leading to a devilish moan to escape from our moves. As someone who normally only sticks to red liquorice, I was enthralled by all the elements coming together. 

The bitterness of the dark liquorice and sea buckthorn was overtaken by the beautiful crisp white chocolate that embraced the tartness of the previous elements. It was the perfect mixture of both a trick and a treat, making it a great snack to leave out at a party or to tuck into when binging on the latest horror film. Honestly, once you have stuck your fangs into it, you won’t be able to stop tucking into them. 

With the wonderful taste of the liquorice in our mouths, we were a little bit dubious as to whether we wanted to wash them down with something. However, having been to the dark side, we felt like maybe we needed to wash some of our sins away with a light refreshment. 

Having never heard of the brand, Outd00r Brewing, we were excited to see how their alcohol free range would compare to others. With many people having Halloween parties in the next few weeks, we both agreed that it would be a new brand to put out for guests, leading to that treat like feeling again for adults. 

Coming in an Original and Lemon flavour, with added electrolytes in both to aid with hydration, we decided to put the Original one to the test first. Popping open the can, it poured out into our glass to make what looked to be the perfect beer. Taking the first sip, my mum quickly turned to me, smiled and nodded her head that it was good. 

Light but with all the great tastes of a normal beer, the company had expertly crafted a beer that could easily rival leading brands. Something that the Lemon kind definitely did when we tried that later on, as we both agreed that neither of us had ever had anything like it. Knowing this, I eagerly imagined how well it would go down on a party table, as guests who may not have had it either would definitely delight in it. Plus, everyone would be able to enjoy it, as it is also gluten free.

With the snacks on another level and the beers flowing beautifully, the party had really started when we put these to the test. It was honestly a graveyard smash! Putting us in the mood to transform this year’s Halloween spectacular into an adult affair, both have made it to the top of our lustrous lists when it comes to shopping this October!
