Helly Hanson are often known for their warming winter pieces. Yet, this summer, they are bringing out all the big guns to help our skin stay safe during the warmer climates too. Using clever technology, their Solen range provides UPF 50+ protection in a lightweight and comfy way. 

With pieces for both men and women, the collection includes t-shirts, hoodies, shorts and dresses that work both for everyday activities and work. Having kindly been sent a few pieces to try, I was left in awe at the soft, subtle and easy to style items, which have become an essential throughout this time of year for me now.

Shine Solen Half-Zip Sun Hoodie, £70: Made from the lightest material, this is perfect in summer as it is not too warm to wear. Providing head to waist coverage, the hoodie has a slot at the back to pop your hair out of, meaning it doesn’t aggravate you, whilst also giving you the chance to loop your thumbs through the arms too. Something that makes moving them while being active a breeze too. I will be wearing my one, which I have in turquoise, all year round, as it is also a great base layer under a jacket when the weather turns. 

Tofino Solen Shorts, £55: Keeping out skin protected, whilst also allowing us to get our pins out, these shorts add an extra layer of safety when worn. Covering the thigh area, which can easily get burnt or hurt when sat on an unexpectedly warm seat, these are perfect for every outfit you can think of. And the pockets within them are also massive too!

Core Graphic Hoodie, £75: Whilst not officially a part of the Solen range, this hoodie is great to pack for when the weather gets a little bit colder, after a super hot day. Using the softest of materials, it adds a touch of heat but not too much, meaning you can stay cosy for longer. It will also provide the right amount of warmth in the colder months too, making it a staple piece throughout the year. 

Tofino Solen Short Sleeve Dress, £80: Having had this item in my wardrobe for a long time, I can safely say that it is great on a really hot day. With poppers on the shoulders to allow for more breathing space, it also provides a cooling texture on the skin. I love to pop a tiny pair of shorts under mine to make an outfit fit for me, but you can wear it on its own or even in bed as a nightie. The possibilities with it are endless. 

Shine Solen T-Shirt, £50: Every single colour that this top comes in is fantastic. From the light peach to the sky blue, there is one to fit any outfit you put together. Whether you wear it out and about or tucked into some smart trousers for work, when you go about your day, you will be in awe at how many compliments you will get whilst wearing it.

As someone who always runs cold, having a hoody that also provides protection when in the sun is a real wonder to have in my wardrobe.
