Do You Hate Summer? I Do & It Is Okay To Admit It!

00:00:00

April is a time of year when everything seems to be springing up! The flowers come out, the sun shines and we all seem to get a little bit happier! However, that isn’t always the case for every one of us! For me, I find the next few months a real struggle! Find out why I'm not the biggest fan of summer here!

Good Morning Lovelies,

As I write this, I am standing in my dressing gown, wishing that the rain was pelting down on my window behind me, with the dark nights having already drawn in. I know we have only just reached summer, yet, my whole body is aching for autumn and winter. Something that I think has stemmed from a reverse seasonal affective disorder.

Whilst many people find themselves suffering from SAD in the colder months of the year, I find that from September up until February that my soul is truly happy. I long for the leaves to brown and fall from the trees. I dream of the Christmas lights sparkling all over the place. I wrap myself up in every layer and love it. These elements make my soul happy.

Yet, the idea of hot days, freshly cut grass and BBQs galore doesn’t. I find myself struggling to get motivated. In fact, I often struggle to get up and out of bed. The hot days bring out a lot of health issues within me and the idea of not knowing how I am going to get through each one terrifies me to the point that I am just left in a very unhappy state.

Admitting this though is often met with a sense of shock and outrage. A lot of the time, we are all meant to talk about how wonderful summer is and the fact that the sun has returned is a real blessing. Today though, I am telling you all that it is okay to admit that spring and summer are just not your thing. I hate it so much that I am not afraid to admit that I cry more, get unhappy and even book trips to colder places just to get by.

Even with both mine and my mum’s birthdays being during the summer, I don’t get excited by it or them. And that is not an aging thing. For me, the summers are boring. What do we actually all have to look forward to? There are no big events like Halloween or Christmas.

The weather often becomes more unbearable than enjoyable. We get upset when our summer holidays end. Parents can’t wait for their kids to go back to school. And the biggest ones of all are that we all moan that it is too hot, there are too many bugs and everything got burnt on the barbie.

What is it really about summer that we all love? Let’s face it, not a lot. Therefore, I want you all to know that it is okay to just make it through the next few months the best that you can. Admit that you don’t like summer. Embrace those winter wishes and spread them around the best way you can. Excite your soul by buying Halloween and Christmas decorations now.

Do what you can to get through May, June, July and August, because they are only a really small chunk of our year. Those autumn vibes will be back soon and we can all celebrate the better months. Because let’s face it, the ‘Ber ones are the best! Screw you summer!
