New Year's Eve: Why Spending It At Home Is So Much Fun!

00:00:00

With New Year’s Eve upon us, the feeling that you should be doing something to celebrate it can get a bit overwhelming! However, staying in on New Year’s Eve is becoming more and more popular each year, which I am hugely grateful for! If you are a little worried about staying in before boring, find out here why it is in fact great!

Good Morning Lovelies,

New Year’s Eve is finally upon us! The day that marks the end of the year and the time to start anew. I must admit that I am both excited and sad to say goodbye to 2025. The past year has brought so much joy and heartache into my life. Both of which making me a whole lot stronger and ready to conquer 2026.

However, before that, we have to say goodbye to the last year. For many, that means a big party or heading out to see a festive fireworks display. Yet, if you don’t have those plans, it can cause a little bit of worry that you should be out celebrating. However, I am here to prove that you really can have a good time staying in too!

Spending the night in doesn’t make you boring. In fact, it can be a lot of fun, as you can relax completely knowing you are spending it exactly how you want to with no one else to please. Here are a few reasons why staying in on New Year’s Eve is the best:

You Don’t Have to Get Dressed Up: Spending New Year’s Eve at home means that you can wear whatever you want. Our home has a great tradition of wearing our most fancy PJs to snuggle up in and welcome the new year with. Honestly, I couldn’t suggest slippers over heels anymore.

You Save Money: Most firework displays now charge people to attend them, which I think is quite sad, considering that they used to be free. However, with the option to stay in, you can create your own display or simply watch the ones on the TV free of charge. Plus, you will get to have the best seats in the house too, instead of having that one tall person stopped in front of you blocking your view.

You Don’t Have To Deal With The Crowds: When it comes to going out, it often means a lot of time will be spent worrying about the crowds that you may find yourself having to struggle against. By staying in with those you love, all that fretting can be prevented, as you don’t have to worry about upsetting anyone or being around those that may not make you feel so good.

Netflix and Chill: Instead of listening to songs you may not like or watching something that isn’t on your must-watch list, starting the new year with your choice of shows or films is epic. Pop on an old classic or that new feature that you have been wanting to watch for a long time and relax well into the new year. We are a house that always goes for a musical number on the big night, which we watch before the fireworks are aired.

Pick and Mix Your Own Snacks and Drinks: Going to a party means that you don’t often get to choose the food or drinks on offer. This can lead to a lot of disappointment when you get to the buffet. By having a quiet night in, you can order a takeaway or get in what you want from the shops without having to worry about catering for anyone else's tastes but your own. Pure food and drink heaven!

Sleep Is Always an Option: Once midnight has hit, you can stay up or go to bed as soon or as late as you want. No waiting around for a taxi or train. Just a simple walk up the stairs and into the warmth and cosiness of your forever friend. Bed. The best place to start the new year with.

Going out or staying in, there is so much that can be done to mark the end and start of a new year. However, I must admit that with all the choices above, I think I may forever be a stay at home new year’s lover.

Have a wonderful New Year's Eve lovelies and here is to a fantastic start to 2026!
