Book Of The Month: Fearful by Lauren Roberts: I’ve loved the entirety of this series, so I was very excited when I learnt of this new unexpected addition. Featuring the story of Kitt and Maya, a solemn death figure, it presents a whole new light to the characters we didn’t know much about. If you are missing them then this will make you very happy.
Impractical Magic by Emily Grimoire: If you love a good witchy book with a lot of romance then you will love this. One of the most tamer options on my list, it will have you feeling all kinds of cosy from the first page.
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley: With a hugely praised new feature film based on this book on its way to Netflix, it was only right to include this classic. Come alive as the pages unfold and scare you to no end.
My Roommate Is A Vampire by Jenna Levine: What would you do if you discovered that your roommate was a vampire? Well, that is exactly what happens in this fun and fast read. With only a little bit of spice, this is a great book to read while snuggled up under a cosy blanket.
The Pumpkin Spice Cafe by Laurie Gilmore: This time of year isn’t just for scary stuff. It’s also the prime time for pumpkin spice lattes, which this book is filled with. As well as love, humour and a Gilmore Girls style family that you will fall for. The first in a fantastic seasonal series.
Love In The Time Of Serial Killers by Alicia Thompson: Have you ever wondered what your neighbours are really like behind closed doors? When the leading lady in this book moves back home, she is soon faced with both admiring and avoiding hers, as she fears for her life in many ways around him.
The Housemaid by Frieda McFadden: Another book being adapted for the big screen, this haunting story follows one housemaids terrifying discovery. Whilst working for a rich family, she soon finds out that the image they are presenting isn’t exactly as it seems. Once you have read this one, you have to read the sequel.
Twilight by Stephanie Meyer: An absolute classic! If you are not excited about the return of the franchise into cinemas this October then re-reading the book will make you so. Once a Twihard, always a Twihard.
No One Saw A Thing by Andrea Maya: One mother’s nightmare comes to life when her daughter is left by herself on a train. Racing to the next stop, she soon discovers that she is no longer onboard. But no one knows a thing about the little lost girl. Gripping from start to finish, you will be shocked by how it ends.
Bride by Ali Hazelwood: Hazelwood knows exactly how to mix romance with mystery, which she does perfectly in this dark love story. A modern classic that will definitely spice up your Halloween.
The Family Remains by Lisa Jewell: When a family is left to uncover the truth about what happened in their family home, what they find disturbs them more than anything they could have imagined. Once you start reading, you won’t be able to put it down, as each chapter uncovers more and more of the big secret. It’s a real binge worthy novel.
What book do you always read to mark the spookiest time of the year? Let me know! I may just pop them up on my display in Hertford Library in the future! Happy reading lovelies!
