Elio Blu-Ray Review
00:00:00Ever since I was little, I have had a never-ending love affair with Disney and Pixar! When a new film is released, I will be one of the first to watch it! There so, upon watching Elio, I was saddened that it flopped at the box office, as it is fabulous! Out now on home release and digitally, find my full review here!
Good Morning Lovelies,
Every single one of us can name a Disney or Pixar film that we love! Beauty and the Beast. The Little Mermaid. Inside Out. All of them are my favourites. I will often turn to them in times when I just need a little bit of comfort. However, recent Pixar films are getting even more intriguing to me, including Elio.
Unlike the many sequels that have been coming from the Pixar studios, Elio is an original feature that is inventive, intriguing and educational. Telling the story of a young boy called Elio, the story sees him navigating the loss of his parents, whilst moving in with his aunt, who works as an incredibly busy Air Force controller.
Using many classic techniques to rein us in, the film becomes its own, when the young character introduces us to a bunch of aliens who are seeking to make him their leader. Yet, not without having to fight off an evil warlord, whose son happens to be the best character of the bunch.
Every moment of the film reflects the idea that Elio is a representation of how we should help and accept everyone no matter their differences. It’s a clever creative path for the studio who use beautiful graphics, heartfelt musical pieces and clever space exploration to tell a story that sticks.
Whilst it sadly failed to ignite a real sense of magic at the box office, when audiences watch it at home, they will be enchanted by its messages. Elio is not just for kids. It is a story that all can learn and take something away from. Disney and Pixar have cleverly made a feature that is simply marvellous, even in its own quiet way.
4 Stars
