Good Morning Lovelies,
When I was younger, my grandad would make us loads of suet puddings to steam and enjoy after are roast dinners on a Sunday. I would love the fruit softness of the suet, smothered in plenty of yellow oozy custard. It was the ultimate comfort food to tuck into!
There so, I wanted to share this super easy recipe to make your own with you all lovelies. Using only four ingredients, this pudding is something that will keep your heart and soul incredibly warm throughout the cold winter months. Enjoy…
Ingredients
200g Self-Raising Flour
200g Dried Fruits (Chopped Dates, Raisins, Currants, Sultanas and Chopped Apricots)
150ml Milk
100g Shredded Suet (Meat, Vegan or Vegetarian Based)
Tools
Pudding Basin/Deep Ovenproof Dish
A Mixing Spoon
A Large Mixing Bowl
Tin Foil
Method
Start by preheating the oven to 180°C or 350°F, before greasing a pudding basin or deep ovenproof dish. Leave to one side until needed.
Taking a large mixing bowl, add the flour, suet and fruits together within it with a mixing spoon.
Once combined, add in the milk and stir until a thick dough is formed. However, try to not over-mix it.
When the dough forms, spoon the mixture into the pudding basin or dish and smooth the top over. Cover with tin foil to help keep the moisture in when cooking.
After sealing the top, place the dish or bowl into the oven and bake for one hour and 15 minutes or until it has risen and is firm to touch.
When the pudding is ready, remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving with golden syrup, custard or cream! The choice is yours!
Honestly lovelies, once you have enjoyed this once you won’t be able to stop making it! Super easy and super tasty! Puddings like this are what winter is all about!
