Get ready to be wrapped up in not only a new year but a whole new world with these beauties that are now out in shops, your local” library and on my display section at Hertford Library…
Book Of The Month: Night Road by Kristin Hannah: This book is a real wonder to start your 2025 reading list with! Full of heart wrenching moments, the story captures a friendship that faces promises and broken ones, love, family and hope for the future all in one. Honestly, from the moment I got my hands on an early copy, I couldn’t put it down. And now I can’t stop thinking about the characters and their lives! I couldn’t recommend it enough!
The Most Fun We Ever Had by Clare Lombardo: We all love to be a bit nosy and this novel shares the ups and downs of a couples 40 year long marriage. Can they continue on with their lives with all the problems they are facing? Or is it the end? Reading each chapter doesn’t feel like enough. You truly want to be a fly on the wall of their home when reading.
One Last Chance by Sarah Jost: We all love the idea of second chances and hope for them when things go wrong. This book is all about them and the wonders of the world when they are granted. Jost has made a positive book to start the new year with well.
The Year that Changed Everything by Cathy Kelly: The title of this book was what caught my eye. Can a year really change everything? I believe so! And I was proved right when reading this book, as Kelly captured everything that could change perfectly.
Butter by Asako Yuzuki: Set inside the mind of a could be serial killer, this dark novel will keep you thoroughly immersed in all the going one, as you seek to find the truth. Did she kill all the men that affected her? One chapter and after another won’t be enough until you find out the truth.
The Wedding People by Alison Espach: It might not be wedding season just yet, however, this book explores how one wedding guest’s life is changed by the other guests she meets at a wedding. Perfect for when reflecting on what you want from the new year.
What You Are Looking for is in the Library by Michiko Aoyama: There are so many people that you may spit in a library, yet you don’t know anything about them. After getting a book recommendation from a stranger, the main character is faced with life changing events. Some good and some bad. All leaving a mark on both them and the reader throughout.
The Heart's Invisible Furies by John Boyne: When a young man discovers a young girl who is pregnant and facing hardships, he decides to help her find a more positive outlook on life. Based on real events, you will be wrapped up by the authors way with words.
Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up by Alexandra Potter: It doesn’t matter what age you are, you don’t have to have everything together, something that this book tells. Full of laugh out loud moments, this diary like novel will have you throwing out those New Year’s resolutions before you know it.
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini: One of the most modern classics of our time deserves another read or a fresh look. Capturing the lives of two young boys who must navigate the brutality of the world as they come of age, you will be gripped from start to finish.
Mad About The Boy by Helen Fielding: Prepare for the return of one of the world’s biggest fictional heroines by reading the book the new film is based on. Discover how Bridget is navigating new loves, work and children before it comes out on Valentine’s Day.
